A 38 year old woman is brought by her husband to see her primary care physician. The husband reports thst she is getting to hard to live with. Physical examination reveals rapid heart beat and profuse sweating. In conversation, the woman has a hard time focusing and getting up from her chair repeatedly.After sometime she reports that sahe is tired and has had difficulty sleeping for "what seems like a year now". She attributes this difficulty sleeping to her tendency to worry about her children and confides that she checks them 10 to 20 times a night. When questioned about her friends, she stated that she just doesnt see them much any more. based on this preliminary information, the most likely diagnosis for this woman would be
A- agoraphobia
B- generalised anxiety disorder
C- generalised social disorder
D- obsessive compusive disorder
E- panic disorder
kindly explain or give appro reference

On the first thought .. D- obsessive compusive disorder b/c of her checkin up on her children 10-20 times in a night ... But second read .. THE general OVERVIEW of the stem gives an impression of B- generalised anxiety disorder ... So it B !!!

B for me too...in OCD she would have been ok in the clinic or she might be worrying about her children even there...she might not be able to get the thought of her kids out of her mind...so i wud go for GAD

ur answer is correct, but dont understand why not OCD, in GAD the most important criteria is that it shud not exceed over more than 6 months.
other things i accept for GAD was excessive vigilance and scanning with fatigue and sleep disturbance....
rest all is fine....
what do u say....

ahaha ... I dont knw ... MAY BE socializin with EVERYONE you meet .. !!!! ... I like it .. by the way .. !!! Good for a diagnosis to be made  Yes drduck you are right .... But .. there is no time frame given other than a clue .. semms like not sleepen for a year ... Plus as I said the general picture is of GAD ... and .. also that maybe her checking up on the kids is a form of Anxiety .. !!
Maybe the Checkin up on her children is a distractor here .. or maybe a part of her Anxiety .. ??

i also go for b.as in OCD pat. checks on him/herself not others...for others whn worries or checks on is often anxiety in simple words...
and gen.social disorder if im not wrong is social phobia...
