Hai friends I watch this forum daily ,I used to see the exam score thread and experiences many times,it was the motivation for me . Am really thankfull to all of you. Actually my preparation is not in a organised manner and also I am not good at describing the things but want to tell in breif about my experience. I took my ck on april 23rd.I thought of posting my experience soon after the exam but I was afraid of my performance in the exam.I felt the exam was not easy, questions were longer then uworld, but most of the questions from the topics covered in uworld. Some of them very vague . I got many questions from respiratory ,many chest pain cases. Peds and surgery was not much tested. No biostats questions. No milestone questions. physchiatry and OBG moderate no of questions. Actually I prepared for 6months,started my preparation in november/06.In the first two months I read only kaplan notes once and some topics twice. I did few IM questions in qbook .Then took uworld towards the end of december.During these two months I watched Kaplan DVDs for internal medicine, some topics in OBG ,just few in surgery.I used to listen to them sometimes during cooking and doing household work. I used to do 1block per day initially then read explanations of all the questions, covered those topics in which I made mistakes and which I didnt read previously. After a gap of 3to 4 days I used to another block and repeat the same. I did all the questions in timed mode with 46 questions per block, initially i didnt get time to review the marked questions but towards the end of my prepation I was able to complete them in time. I did about 60% questions in uworld then I started revising kaplan notes and doing remaing questions. I made flow charts from uworld for management of AF,PE ,Jaundice,Pancreatisis, arrythmias ,preeclampsia some other topics. I used to make notes of some important things from uworld . I learnt most of the things from uworld like management of arrythmias,PE. I tried to read firstaid but didnt like it,so stopped. I read only vignettes in surgery for 2to 3times, didnt read peads perfectly, OBG learned in last two months, physchiatry read once. Medicine read for 3 to 4 times, but didnt like CVS for arrythmias in kaplan. Finished doing uworld questions in march with 70 % cumulative but without reading explanations for the last 20blocks,then took NBME 2 on march 3rd to know where am standing.I scored 630.Then I started my revision and reading explanations for the last 20blocks.But I didn complete them. Took nbme 3 on march 23rd and scored 680,thought of preponing exam but was worried bcos I didnt finish revision and uworld explanations. Took nbme 1 on march 31 ans scored 700,by this time i finished uworld once so started doing second time reading explanations only for important questions. Then finally gave my exam on april 23rd nd received score on may 19th its 99/264. Thanks to all of you and my husband for making me to acheive this.

Hey shailu, great work. A couple of questions: 1. Do you think that the exam had stuff which was covered in Kaplan and not in UW? 2. What is the order in which one should do the NBME forms, I mean which was the most difficult, easy and most representative of the actual exam?

Thanks to all Snake 06 my suggestion is to read kaplan notes atleast 2to 3 times and do uworld twice, after which you will be able to answer most of questions. Do nbme ateast one about 1month before so that u can improve on weak areas. I read explanations for the nbme questions from this forum.

Hey coolmavs I think if we read kaplan notes we can answer most of the questions in uworld. Most of the questions in final exam were from the topics covered in uworld but some of them very vague. In my opinion if u do uworld twice it will be good enough. I read from this forum that nbme form 1 was easy so I did that at the end and also read that nbme 2 better correlates to the exam so I did it first. I think you can do in any order.

Thanks all lilla I did all the questions in random, timed mode with 46 questions per each block. I found it very usefull to do in timed mode ,bcos it helps in managing time and will be under time pressure similar to final exam. I preferred doing random questions.
