will give exam on monday, need some advice: 1: what if i forget to do some manuver in the physical exam, but i remember it when i do my closure, could i still go ahead and do it??do i have to wash hands again?? or just forget about it, or at least mention it to pt that although i didnt do it earlier, but i will do it later??? 2: if in CV case, i forget to palpate the heart, but i remember it when i write the pn, could i still put down no PMI dispalced?( since most pt will be normal in the exam) any help will be appreciated

Try to relax, dreamer, I know it is easier said than done. But you'll see that the performance is not perfect in most cases, you'll remember that you forgot this and that aspect of the physical exam. But you're not intended to do everything. It's better to try to relax and really show interested in what you're discussing with the patient, preparing yourself to write the PN. I don't think it would be a problem to add a few findings in the PN that you did not assess during PE (as the case you mentioned). Besides, there will be cases in which you'll (at least, I did) forget to write things that you really assessed. GL

If you still have time - do it... no you don't have to wash hands again unless you did something with your hands that warrants a second wash... 2: if in CV case, i forget to palpate the heart, but i remember it when i write the pn, could i still put down no PMI dispalced?( since most pt will be normal in the exam) No you can't mention it was normal because you didn't assess it... good luck...

Dear Dreamer, 1. If you touch the clip board (which I believe you will when you do the closure), you have to wash your hand again if you want to do a maneuver. 2. If you forgot something on the physical exam, you had better NOT write it down on your patient notes. Of course the choice is yours. The 2 answers that I pointed out is exactly what we were told when we took the class for CS. all the best on Monday.
