Few of those pop up in my mind now! *Po2<70 or oxygen saturation < 95% *Severe infection with high fever,CBC with lots of neutrophils,tachypnea,tachycardia Any more?

Simplest criteria to admit a patient with pneumonia a. confusion. b. RR more than 30 per min. c. diastolic BP less than 60 d. Systolic BP less than 90. e. blood urea more than 7 mmol per liter.

The latter is called CURB criteria, widely used in the UK. C=Confusioin U=Urea R=Resp. rate. B=B.P. A score of 1 is given for each factor and a score of 2 or more indicates a SEVERE pneumonia. Other factoprs used in conjunction for clinical judegment: Age, Co-morbidities, bilateral/multilobular involvement, PaO2 and Sats.
