Hi guys,

Ok, so I have a dumb-sounding question now.

Is it of any advantage to schedule elective rotations during the intern year in any particular month or time slots? I mean, apart from the personal preferences, does it help if you schedule electives in a particular time frame...like, for e.g., to apply for fellowships or something>>? (I heard you typically apply for fellowships in the 2nd year...but am not sure how it all works..anyone with any information could be a great help here)..

Thanks..hope you all are having fun getting your temporary licenses done and coasting along the complex and complicated visa situations...

even I am unsure on this elective bit.

I had to give in the months I want to do electives in, so I gave them the time and the specialty.. but will tell them wether I want to do that particulat elective off site or on site, when I start my orientation..

It is confusing to take decisions, when you are yet to begin the orientation

They told me that they will only attempt to give you your preferences... it is hard to please everybody.

I only emphazise my interest in rotate in one specialty... the rest I don't care since I will clear all the others anytime during the residency.

Fellowship applications traditionally start in December of your second year. So if you do an elective early in your second year, it will still give you the exposure to the staff and time to ask for an LOR early.

Borscht is actually Russian origin, I believe - I haven't have the stomach to try it. Although another "b" would be bagels.

Btw...the dinner invite stands if I ever bump into you...and we have the menu fixed already: Sangrias to begin with, bulgogi and bibimbap for the main, Borscht for the exotic element...and bagels(!!!!) with the coffee. Now maybe we could work on the desert part....
