Yep, Sunday is the day for Step 1 (NBME wink).

Finished antimicrobials in baby Katzung, now need a break....5,4,3,2,1...ok, break over! Now on to FA Path-renal. Switching gears again, but have to, pharm weighing to heavy on me. Will get back to it in the morn, with cardio and renal drugs. My Robbins qbook still nowhere to be found. I found the djvu version, so all is not lost. Ok, back to FA then pharm q's. Maybe sticking out tongue

Hello all. Thanks for the visits, guys. I would have been here sooner, but had problems with 'net service. They said it would take about an hour to fix (outside), but instead, took about 5 hours!

I have no probs with posting q' here, or anyone responding to them here. Mi casa es tu casa smiling face

P4a99: yes, you need to know blots. Usually taught in medical genetics class, or biochem class, depending upon the school. Southern blots for DNA, Western for proteins, Northern for RNA. Know that Western used as confirmatory for HIV. As for my biochem, had it before med school, again in med school, and studied it again a few weeks ago, at start of blog. I have a few concepts on cards, but am forgetting all other stuff confused so, will cover it again in FA, hopefully before Sunday. And again before real thing.

  #213

Thanks Medoc and Wishmeluck! I feel the same about all of your journals also nod Plan for today is to continue hammering away at FA concepts.

Shwe Yang! Yes, it's crazy, being all over like that with my stuff. We have to do whatever works nod No, I have no prob with you ans here, it helps me, too!

Hi Gly and AC! Yes, slaving away over FA most of day. And still avoiding getting back to pham grin

  #214

Too bad i couldnt catch you todaysad looks like your too busy ... GL

Just finished going over q's from UW. Did a full batch of 50, mixed, 30 correct = 60%. Mind you, I included only the topics I have studied the past 6 weeks disapproval Of course, most of the missed q's were in pharm and biochem, no big surprise there. Almost done going over cardio path in FA. Next, cardio and renal pharm! Last post for the night, so good night, study hard! smiling face

hi edie.. You are relly doing good.. I your schedule is so great... you are really fast... when do you plan to give exam??

hey edie, how is studying i see ur all set for a couple of weeks, i cant help but say ur so organized and ur plan for the weeks ahead are great, well good luck studying and have a nice weekend!smiling face

  #222

So did you get the Pharm bit done.I know it is difficult to do your weak subjects. But don't let that get to you.You need to make the effort like a real good effort now and u will be sorted. The idea is to attack weak areas. You have done so well with all your other subjects..don't lest easy marks get away cos u feel discomfort.Crack it till u r comfortable. I know u have a lil more than 3 weeks. But effort now will make u a lot more confident a week from now..So do it girl and I want to see u have done your pharm..They are easy scores..trust me...Good luck.

  #223

i wish they let us vote 3-4 times grin

Good morning/afternoon/evening!

I see I need to clarify a thing or two. The reason it may seem that I move fast through certain subjects is because of my academic background. I forget that many of the people here are from education systems outside the US, or graduated several years before writing their step 1. I finished the 4-year premedical program in 2004. Several of my science classes were graduate level. My program was loaded with cell biology, biochemistry, anatomy/physiology, microbiology and genetics. I started medical school in 2005, and saw repeated stuff from undergrad, just more clinically-oriented, more detail. The only really new concepts for me in med school were pharmacology, patient/doctor, and neuroanatomy.

Before reading, I do q's. If I score poorly, I read, then do more q's. I go over my q's and note the concepts I got wrong, then I read up on that. I skipped certain parts of the Kaplan biochem notes, and focused on others, based upon my performance on questions, which is how I got done with molecular and genetics so quickly. Just by doing lots of questions and reading the explanations saves time reading books in many cases. As I have said before, certain things I need to "relearn" and others, just "review". I will know better about this after I do the NBME on Sunday. I hope this clears things up a little

  #225

wow edie u r so good ..organized , up to date n what not...i wish i cud be like u and put every min of my day into my studies...good luck for ur NBME
