Good morning, Journal and friends. Hi Gogeta, Shwe and Medoc I had to give up on CMMRS--yes, Yang Shwe is correct about the title, GGT. Why give up? Because I only have the version on my computer. After a few pages, I was done. Long-term reading on my laptop just doesn't do it for me. I need hardcopy. So I picked up my Road Map Microbiology and Infectious Disease book, and have not put it down. Oh, Lange Lev and Jaw micro/immuno is excellent for micro, but with exception to the summaries, main text is very long, would take too much time to get through. If you are unfamiliar with the RM series of USMLE review books, do check them out, they are quite good. Most people have BRS, which is nice too, but for anatomy and micro, I prefer RM. Very organized layout, thin light books with lots of good info, good diagrams and tables. What I don't like are the end chapter q's, but we can do q's elsewhere. Went out with hubby last night to dinner, brought my book along, he didn't mind. Personally, I'd be annoyed without his full attention. But my hubby is very understanding, and knows how important this is for me. So we made a compromise. Dinner at his fave seafood place, with me and my little review book Good conversation, I told him everything I knew about HIV. He's non-medico, so, he's easy to impress with little med knowledge Despite taking my book along to dinner, still didn't finish, have a few pages to go back over in the viruses chapter. Then, will do another set of q's. Hope to get to Pappi this afternoon with blood/lymph! Happy Father's day! Happy Sunday!!!

Whew, safe! Did more UW q's, 17 correct of 25, 68%. Not quite the 70% mark, but good enough to move on. Did not do Qbank q's. Updating the schedule: Week 5 Microbiology 6/11: Review and do Q's--> UW immuno: 65% and all subs: 66% 6/12: Medical Microbiology & Immunology, part VIII: "summaries of medically important organisms"; FA micro/immuno section 6/13: same as above 6/14: same as above 6/15: did a few PreTest micro q's and more "Same as above" 6/16: Road Map Micro virology chapters 6/17: Road Map Micro virology chapters; FA virus pages; UW micro: 68%. Next up: Ch 12 in RR Path--White Blood Cell Disorders. I decided to skip red blood because it's not a problem area for me, and also because white blood cell d/o ties in more of the concepts I just learned about in immuno. Back to Papi Yes, Acintya, you can't mark up your e-book with margin notes and highlighting, both are important for me during my studying process. And forget about printing, it's just too many pages, and ink is so terribly expensive! OMG, I am approaching the 6th week I told myself at the beginning, "Self, you will study hardcore and take an NBME during the 6th week to gauge your progress." So, one week from today is THE day. My other stumble areas are pharm, esp cardio, renal and psych drugs. So those will be next. Hope I can get good study in with those topics over the next 7 days. Ok, time to workout only 20 min, shower, then back to studying

4 weeks. Exactly 4 weeks until IT. And I just cannot wait to have IT behind me. Starting today, I turn up the power a few notches. That means I will add a few more hours to my studying day. Will add more question sets. Do more random vs subject sets of q's. Go over ALL the explans in UW. Start and end the day with FA. Good morning. Happy Monday. It's showtime!!!

Got 64% on random UW q's. Getting better scores with random, but sometimes it seems like the luck of the draw. Got wrong ones in the topics I mentioned before as my stumblers. I read somewhere on here that UW behav sci q's too easy and too few. Agree! Need to scope out another q source for these. Will have a go with BSS q's, later. For now, back to RR Path. Hope to finish chpt 12 today.

Yes, Shwe, keep your cool with things. You will be nice and refreshed when you get back to your books. I get no relatives, no visitors, all have been banned away--from me, only, not hubby. So, of course, when they come, I keep it brief, just, "hello, how are you? Well, gotta go study, see ya!" and it's over. They understand, more or less.

Couldn't find my Robbins review book so did Qbank q's, half-batch of 25 path, got 19 correct, 76% Progress, finally. When I'm up, I'm up up up. When I'm down, well, it's a disappointment. So, trying to keep it up like viagra

Good morning, afternoon, and evening! Shwe, you are so awesome, thanks for that tip Hope i can get to that version. Or find my hardcopy, whichever first. KG, PT series are not bad, but some are better than others. I like pharm, micro, path and pathophysio. I liked PT physio while in school, but for step 1, it's just so-so. I have heard decent remarks about the clinical vignettes book, but have not looked at that one yet, hope to get to it soon. Medoc, hi there, stranger! You are hilarious Your guy is out there, but if you don't get to him, just take yourself out to dinner and sit down a waiter, and impress upon him your knowledge of ANS. He'll probably end up tipping you!!!

Ok, I must be losing my mind. I cannot find my Robbins review book anywhere Will search for the version Shwe mentioned. Then continue to turn house upside down Focus is on First Aid for the rest of the week. Increasing # of q's, and will continue to try and reach target scores. Wanted to do an NBME on Sunday. On Saturday, will do 4 sets of 50 UW q's timed, random to get in the mood Wanna psyche myself into thinking that I take the real thing on Sunday, know what I mean? After that, I think I'll be more apt to making a plan, and more likely to stick to it, especially if the NBME says, "Edie--you suck"!

Ok, I'm starting to get antsy, guess that means time to get in a little exercise. Reading FA over and over is a chore, man! Especially pharm. Or is it because it's, you know, pharm? Alrighty, time to make sweat. Be back later, Journal. Happy studying, all you Step 1 Masters
