Kaplan Qbank USMLE

Drats! UW for me is no more sad I managed to do a block of 25 q's, got 18/25 for 72%, but I could not move on for the next block--my sub expired! I decided against renewing. Ended up with 57% cumulative. Tried my damndest to get to 60%. Close, oh so close...anyway, gotta keep pushing, I still have thousands of Kaplan, Robbins, BSS and WebPath q's to do nod

So onward with Super Cram Day 2.

Don't worry about it-the rest of the Qbanks is sufficient enough.Just keep on going----

Whew!!! Taking a mini-break now after etching FA concepts onto brain. Started with neoplasia and pharm, next up is CVS, my bugaboo topic.

I am all for knowledge and all, but for CVS, I need my shortcuts nod Here's a handy mnemonic that has gotten me through the heart murmurs: PASS and PAID. Both feature Pulmonic and Aortic, but do opposite to get the others. Example: vignette describes a diastolic mumur. That's PAID = Pulmonic Aortic Insufficiency = Diastolic, so for mitral and tricuspid, those are stenosis. Vignette describes a systolic murmur. That's PASS = Pulmonic Aortic Stenosis = Systolic, so for mitral and tricuspid it's insufficiency (or regurg if you wish). Now of course, these aren't going to be useful if you don't know all the other little qualifiers for each murmur. But it at least points you on the right path smiling face

Ok, break time over, back to FA...and lunch! Some people think eating with books is bad manners. I call it multi-tasking! sticking out tongue

  #757

Hi KG, yes, I will KG gringringrin

  #758

Oh you are a God-send! I was just heaving my way thro those murmurs and got so tired of pausing n rewinding n came to the forum for a break....and voila....see your mnemonic....Thank u!!

Have you finished having FA for lunch? grin

Hi KG, I didn't know it either, I picked C. as my choice sticking out tongue This q came from an online qbank that was free, can't remember exactly, but I think from the free LWW site, StudentCon or USMLEasy bank (freebies). Haven't been on there in a while, but copied a few of the incorrects when I did. Was going through my old notes, and found that q from there. I always wondered about that one!

  #771

Okay!!! Just finished block 3 of 7 of the kap sim, and all I can say is....stop! Please! Don't hurt me no more!!! Man, talk about picking nits, these q's. I know this test is not as much like the real one as NBMEs are, but my goodness, if it were anything like what I am to face on Friday, I would feel like I have been prepping for the wrong thing!!! shaking head Wait a minute, is this the test that the clever Kaplan crew gives you for free at med school? If so, then I can understand.Very slick marketing, right? I'd gladly fork over a few thousand if they could prep me to get at leat 50% of this stuff correct. Golly gee...ok, back to more of this mind-raping mad

  #772

Well now...am done w/the kap sim, I made it out alive and completed the blocks, took a few minutes between blks plus 20 minutes between blks 4 and 5. My brain hurts, but otherwise, am ok. Scores-wise? NOT ok shaking head Those q's made me shed a tear for losing my UW. But, the show must go on! Time for dinner and FA smiling face

  #773

You are one impressive dudette smiling face True YANG cool

I shall remember your thoughts on Kaplan marketing strategies grin really might be true you know smiling face nod so don't bother about the score right now...you survived one pre-marathon, just one more and you are DONE!!!
