A simple and easy thing to remember abt anion gap is that anytime u have an organic acid present u'll have anion gap. Ganong's or bRS!!!!! Read it some place. ANd held true.

Not sure what is there in KLN, but increased AG metab acidosis (nl = 8-12 mEq/L)= MUDPILES

Methanol

Diabetic ketoacidosis

Iron pills, INH

Lactic acidosis

Ethylene glycol

Salicylic acid

And NA+ - [CL+ HCO3] = anion gap.

Hellooooooooo grin

I have been up for a couple hours this morning, woke up and did resp q's on Webpath, then another set of renal physio q's with Kaplan. Got no sleep last night, thanks to the weather, was like a war zone with all the racket. Brain is feeling all fuzzy as a result so think I'll put off the NBME another day. I am going to do another run through HY notes and FA today. Will have to be deliberate and methodical due to my mind state. But will do it nontheless nod

Shwe, how nice of you to keep the song going!

Med, I am totally your avatar this very minute! Marathon? Nah, more like a light jog today.

Hi AC, up and trying to get at em smiling face

Spent a good deal of time looking up pics from the first couple pages of the HYs. Saw some very interesting things when I googled neurofibromatosis nod I can now appreciate 'zebra-stripes' in the cell of an acoustic neuroma, too. Am now up to page 15. Need to stop and close my eyes for about 20 minutes, then get fed, watered, caffeinated and back to work. Before I go, a question for all of you's: Is it ok for me to get mad when people get step 1 scores like 80-82 and complain? Yes? No? Just wondering smiling face

oh wow..I had the same question to ask edie. Thanks kitty. Looks like you beat me to it.

  #687

Hi Kity, the answers are included at the end of the document. You may want check New_n_Lost's forms in the path forum under NBME discussion. I have read somewhere that passing is getting a minimum 31 correct per per block = ~ 186. Divide your total correct by the total # of q's, then multiply by 3.

Just like last night, I try to nap today, and as soon as sleep comes, BOOM!!!! CLAP!!! CRASH!!!! shaking head So what can I do now except continue working, right? Doing HYs for another 30 minutes then moving on to q's.

Hello Journal, hello everyone smiling face

Amritt, you may be right. Medoc, hanging in there. Am having problems with UW this morning, and internet in general. Working ok for now.

On my mind lately is all that time I lost trying to study with all those wacky symptoms. Man, I wonder if I can get my school to consider that and get an extension? Because, I really do feel that I need more time for this. I am not comfortable with my performance thus far, I am borderline with no wiggle room at all. All I need is to be antsy and panicky at the Prometric center to make me lose points I would otherwise get if I were at home doing a practice test. So I pose this question to all my Journal World Buddies:

If I score the same as I have been on my next NBMEs, low 200s, should I go for more time?

  #697

Done with my forum lurking, am now going to go off and spend 30 minutes on HY notes then take one NBME 4. Peace!

  #698

good luck

I would recommend you pay for an NBME and get a real feel and then decide with an official estimate.

Also in the 200's you will only do a few points better not a few points less. I say don't extend as there is no end to it. You appear prepared.Go for it.

On the flip side, do what you are comfortable doing. In the end you have to live with your decision.

and yeah if that didnt help..u can kick my butt later. :P
