Med, I have not done too many from '05 and '06, but 2004 the q's are pretty good, nice mix of difficulty and knowledge level. As I do more from the later banks, I will post about them Oh, you can never have too many q's!!!

Found the following in the Pharm Review Notes section on this site. Very helpful for those evil ANS pharm q's. Thank you Dr Virgo
DrVirgo wrote:This concept will help with a lot of the ANS tracings: alpha 1--> VC--> Inc. TPR--> inc BP--> Reflex Bradycardia beta 2--> VD--> Dec. TPR--> dec BP-->Reflex Tachycardia beta 1--> Inc HR, Inc Pulse Pressure Musc 2--> Dec. HR Musc 3 -->VD --> Dec TPR--> Dec. MAP--> Reflex Tachycardia Blood vessels have Alpha 1 and M3 Receptors but are ONLY innervated by SANS, NOT by PANS, so the drugs that can affect it are sympathetic agonists/blockers, and DIRECT acting drugs on Muscarinic receptors like Ach, but NOT Indirect acting drugs such as AchE-Inhibitors because those type of drugs work at the synapse, and there is NO PANS innervation of blood vessels. Drugs with Alpha 1: Phenylephrine, Methoxamine, Epi, Norepi Drugs with Beta 2: Metaproterenol, Albuterol, Terbutaline, Isoproterenol Drugs with Beta 1: Isoproterenol, Epi, Norepi, Dobutamine Drugs with Musc 2: Ach, Bethanechol, Carbachol, Pilocarpine, and AchE-Inhibitors Ganglionic blockers will prevent the Reflex brady or tachycardia. (see above) For drugs with dual action where there is change in Heart rate due to a reflex AND direct effects on the heart, giving a ganglionic blocker will BLOCK the reflex, buy you will still be able to see the DIRECT effects on the heart. eg. Giving Norepi with a Ganglionic Blocker: Norepi: alpha 1--VC--Inc. TPR --Inc MAP---Reflex Bradycardia BLOCKED! BUT: beta 1---Inc. HR STILL PRESENT. If anyone has any more hints to add, please do!

Just finished Kap Qbank pharma q's, got 36/50 = 72%. Did them in a laid back way, though--kept popping away from them to lurk the forum And now, time to take a break. Going for a little nap.

Hey NNL, yes, the date is coming up fast and furious 9 days left. For today, plugged into Papi for the nth time--listening to Neoplasia now. Will cover with Barone after. Will go over the HY notes again. Need to go over the biochem/molecular bio section of FA again, esp collagen synthesis (Thanks, Medoc) and metab pathways. I had fun yesterday with Kap Qbank. Questions are less evil, dark and twisted than UW. But Kap q's are on the nitpicky side, a few of them, anyway. More q's after lunch And now, back to the Man

Hi Acintya, I think people are trying to sound French or something Yes, am trying to do questions and discussions today--ongoing cancer discussion in pathology forum--check it out and share tidbits, pose a question, etc. Just finished a set of 30 resp q's with Kaplan systems review. I just found out about this set, it's pretty good, actually. Check it out http://www.megaupload.com/?d=BO9BA9WS

Not slow, MT, frantic actually. Left the pathology discussion to finsh up Barone lecture, read a bit of FA, dinner, then some q's on UW. Did a full set of 50, got 33 correct. Can't get too excited, unless I can keep it up for over the next few batches. Thanks for coming over, Kity! You gotta get through those UW explanations, plenty of points to be won from those Good study days to you, too Man, where did the day go??? Guess I'll get my next NBME done tomorrow. I also need to get the Kaplan simulated test and USMLE CD done sometime soon as well. MT, Med, NNL, Yuna, Yoga, Po and Anmelie---THANK YOU for contributing on the cancer thread in the path forum We need to get together and party like that more often, LOL !!! Don't forget the DL on post#666, good stuff there
