Good morning, Journal and friends 
I spent the entire day yesterday without studying. Needed a mind break. Hubby took the day off and we went on a picnic in the park, which was absolutely wonderful. Esp because I was feeling a little low that I got, so far, the lowest NBME scores of my colleagues I have talked to. I'm the only one that got below 500. Ok, enough of that pity party  Today am fully charged and on renal/GU embryology, histology, and physiology with KLN and RM. Then it will be the FA renal section (AGAIN) then questions. Later, Goljan renal path, then more q's. I plan to do pharm every other day. I have increased my target score on practice q's to 80+ for everything except UW. Still trying for 70+ for UW.

Thanks, Acintya, yes, that is the edition I ordered, along with Road Map neuro. Should be here tomorrow. I noticed lots of missing info in my old Lev Jaw micro/immuno edition, eg, all ILs not explained, etc. So doing 2nd review of immuno with this one.
Gogeta, YES, I understand it very very much now. Yes, it is my hope to get at least the average. I will continue to push for it

re micro, Jawatz pass away , so now with levinson only, but not check at book store yet. The one Ac link is 2002 , so no more exm & board review even by Levinson alone or the review by Levison is the one of following by both of them .

Will check at book store that now confuse me. Thought the new review is same series as old one by both , guess not. So 2002 is last one out then .

you will definitely do well in exam eddie.. hard work always pays off.. don't try to cmpare urself with your friends.. everyone has his own destiny.. I didnt even do NBME in Ck as I was afraid of scoring low.. still got decent score.. dont loose confidence... & concentrate.. good luck!! you will ace it!!

Thanks everyone, for your replies, all are excellent advice You all are the BEST!!!
Yesterday: Finished up renal physiology with KLN and RM, then topped it off with renal section in FA. Did UW renal q's, got 60%, 18 of 30. Of the set, had 11 physio q's, only 6 correct. I need to go back over renal clearance. Began Goljan renal late last night, but got sleepy. For today: review renal clearance, finish Goljan renal, then pharmacology review. Will try to do at least 100 q's total today.

Oh, my current Levinson micro/immuno review book is 6th edition, from 2000, and my new one (should come today) is 2006 9th edition.

Hi everyone! Thanks to all that posted here, I am soaking up your well wishes and encouragement like a sponge
Now, I discovered something the past couple of days...I no longer know renal physio  Seriously, it's as if the Men in Black came along and flashed me with that memory eraser thingy right after my renal physio exam 2 years ago 
I went back and looked at my grades from school, all good marks there, so what the ?!$# happened? I pulled out my Vander's Renal Physiology that I used to study with in school, an excellent little book, BTW, drew the graphs and wrote the equations on my white boards, and still, scoring low in UW and Qbank renal physio. Am blowing renal path away, last Qbank renal path score was 86%. But physio? Only 50% with UW this morning, 60% with Qbank yesterday. My pharma days are now backlogged because renal physio is like being stuck in the mud...oh, what to do?
a. Leave it and come back to it later
b. Reread KLN, Vander's, FA
c. Do more q's and explanations
d. Both b and c
e. Dump renal physio altogether and let the chips fall where they may
About the Levinson micro book: Shwe, I love the "Pearls for the USMLE" section, new from my old ed. And the immuno chapters are definitely better, at a glance, more info and more up to date. So for me, updating from the 2000 ed to the 2006 ed was definitely a good move
My next topic for study after renal--> neuro. For now, leaving renal alone, and getting to the pharm for at least a portion of the day. Then, back to renal, maybe

Thanks Ed for micro detail info, even mine micro is older than yours, I might go for one, but which one. The 2008 is already accepting pre order, they usually out in 2007 for 2008. Will see , since my exm is not so near yet, I am still in my 1.5 or 1st read .
re renal physio, try audio papi fluid etc too. Either now or later renal physio have to understand , also fluid part , endocrine .
If you have graph, good at it b4 will pick up easily, though no memory idea at all now.
It's normal , not using in basic Sc it does not stick in the head .

Heeyyyy, Medoc, you are so funny!!!
Decided to read the entire Vander's, it helped me remember and better understand all things renal and did another take on KLN, which had less  and much more . Did UW renal q's and score went up from 50% to 55%. Baby steps, I know, but improving nonetheless. Am now taking a break from the beans, and moving on to brain with HY Neuro and RM Neuro. Am considering moving my test date...we'll see. I think I need more time.

Good morning Journal, and Step 1 Studybuddies,
Over the past couple days, I have totally immersed myself in RM Neuroscience, it is a really great little book. I like the HY a little better for diagrams, but RM better for content, IMO. Got so into the reading that I forgot to renew my UW, so now have to pay more for it
After considerable thought, and taking another look at Match outcomes file on the NBME website, I have decided to delay my test until the end of August. And so, it goes on.

Oh, forgot to add that concerns about my health factored greatly into my 'considerable thought' to postpone the exam. I don't really like discussing it, but I guess that's a form of denial? Am still awaiting test results, my next appt is next week. I am really not trying to claim an illness here, not here, not now.

Just put ur trust in God ,have faith &things will turn out fine with ur medical checkup. And its ok to postpone it as long as its not too long,like I have been doing all these yrs.You'll do great.One of these days I'l l see apost from u saying 260/99-heres what I did
