what is overlap connective tissue disease?

  #2

SLE, RA, PM-DM, SS, Scleroderma, have a lot of common features like more in females, affect multisystem, share some clinical symptoms, signs and labs. Although they can occur alone, many patients can have symptoms characteristic of one or more of the other CT diseases. In this circumstance, we can use the term 'overlap'.

Mixed connective tissue disease is an overlap of lupus, PM-DM, scleroderma but has anti -RNP and non-renal involvement to give it a distinction.
