Hi rezaa,
Congratulations on your wonderful score! I will have to take the exam by december So do you think if i start now i can finish everything in five and a half months or so and still manage a score over 90. Thanks for our time.

thanks to all the people for your wishes. i will try to reply to your questions. it might not be the same order!

catz.2006: 5 and a half months is doable but i cannot say anything becoz i do not know how good a student u r and how quickly u grab stuff smiling face i can tell u this its adequate time for doing two reads and completing usmleworld qbank(if u try hard and do it in 12 days) . i think it is possible to score over 90 with five n a half months of prep. but how much more than 90 i cannot say

shazly12: you should not only use kaplan for your first read but also for all your subsequent reads. keep only one book for each subject as your main. i do not like using multiple books for each subject as it ruins your page memory. however if u r hell bent on using other books then yes i would say use kaplan as ure first read and add stuff in it from other books. however this approach can be time consuming and i dont recommend it. kaplan books usually have all the imp stuff. one approach some ppl use is add FA to kaplan.

angel doctor: most recommended qbank for step 1 is now USMLEWORLD (according to most ppl ). Use the last video of kaplan pathology dvd to review slides. A good source for images is Goljan image collection. I downloaded it somewhere off the internet. it helped a lot. for ct mri see most common things like angiography and vessel identification and common intracranial tumours and bleeds. they sometimes give chest and abdomen ct as well but usually the question is solvable from the questions stem. so just get an idea about where different organs and vessels are.

reza i have another question
how long on average did 1st , 2nd and third read take with u
and what was ur methed in each (eg reading quickly, emorizing, understanding)and what was ur usmle world score like?

well a lot of step 1 stuff is understanding but a lot of it is also memorizing. like e.g. the chromosome number for diff disease. u need to learn that kinda stuff by heart. i dont really rem how much time but on average i think 2 and a half months for first read and 1 and a half to two months for second read. i also did qbook in first read subjectwise and qbank in second read subject wise so those also took some days. in the end i would say diff ppl take diff time cuz it depends on ure speed of understanding and memory and the number of hours u study every day

thank u so much
best of luck in ur step 2
