Guys, I know this may sound stupid, but I would like to know if there is any possibility of this happening....Suppose after the completion of my Masters course on a F1 visa, I will have the 1 yr OPT period. So is it possible that I can apply for a Prelim/Transitional position during that 1 yr OPT period, and dont have to ask the Hospital to sponsor a H1/J1 for the same?

OPT is the optional practical training period, which one gets after finishing Master/Doctorate degree in USA.

You can start resident on an O visa. Just make certain that if you are looking for an H visa for the following years, that the program you are in will sponsor it.
