if u complete the course then yes it helps. if not - there are tons of ppl with uncompleted us masters who use it for a visa i dont think its advisable to switch nations for ur training. finish everything at one place and then move. canada has a 4yr residency. so u might not meet their fship reqs with a 3yr us residency

ah and i almost forgot whats better? What's better? to be a fresh graduate or to to have the epidemiology master degree (as far as i know it takes 1 year)???????????????????

usa. anything and everything in usa counts more than a similar achievement anywhere else in the world

So it really depends on what your interested in, If your residency is in Internal Med, GI or Cards rite now in Canada is pretty impossible without a decent number of pubs in NEJM or JAMA...amongst the easiest are geriatrics and palliative care..

What about surgical fellowships nisha? Getting a vascular surgery fellowship in Canada is hard? or not? or endocrine surgery???? chaging of topic once i read someones post stating that getting into new zealand was easier? is that true? do someone have experience there? what are the steps? how hard is to get a general surgery position?

NZ has loads of jobs generally, because the have just one medical school graduates to cover their posts, but my info is that they usually are very selective and mostly training posts are given to their own grads and UK grads. FMGs end up doing on taining posts. I am not sure how this works in fellowship.
