hi friends... its my very first message on this forum after silently checking it for some time and then deciding to ask for ur useful advice...
guys i took my step2 ck in jan and dint clear it... i havent been able to start it again.. now i plan to take cs before my ck. my cs is in june end. i plan to start studying for ck from july 1st and then appear for it by august end...2 months prep. in order to be able to go for the match.. i have late eighties in my step1.
friends i want u to help me and advice me if its possible for me to take ck in two months ( alot of guys on this forum have taken it in around 3 months and so 2 months for my second attempt looks acceptable to me ) ? and wht do u guys think, if I God willing do as i plan, are my chances in the match?

Hi maan_img,
though I havent completed my Step2 yet and so may not be the best position to advise you but anyway I think anything is possible if you have a plan- I would advise to use the mark sheet from your previous attempt to both drive you and also to plan to attack the weakest areas - also it depends on the factors that led to this poor performance- eg did you have a panic attack on exam day and just wanted to get it done as quickly as possible- did you have a problem with timing- Or were you particularly weak in Medicine but better prepared for surgery-Take a long hard look at what went wrong and then plan to use the time you have to set it right - A good guide is some of the posts by askdoc- although its for step1- there are a lot of points that apply to test prep in general:

and here are his views on step2 prep:

best of luck

pretty much possible.. cause of the fact that u have already summarised the course once.. but i would suggest u to give nbme form 3 before the exam. its the most accurate assessment tool. u will know for urself after that, if u r ready to take the test.
good luk

Hi doctor sab. You read some review materials more than twenty times and yet you failed? You must be memorizing. Try to understand the concepts. That will help you better absorb the things you're trying to learn. Memorizing is good. If you've read UW 50 times, you must know the answer to each question already. The problem with memorization is that these UW questions are not the ones which are gonna appear in the exam. In the exam, you' have to think for the right answer fast. If in the first place you didn't understand the concepts, they will be in your mind, but fragmented, and any small change from the UW question will be difficult to answer, since you associate the answers only to particular questions. Good luck. Remember, understanding is the key.

Hi Doc saab
I agree with the rest of the people I think you need to change your study strategy. There is something that you are not doing right. I think you need to focus on understanding concepts, diseases and what could be the most common asked questions. I think you stop studying 13 hours a day. And use some of that time to analyze your test taking skills. Are you taking enough time to read and understand the question? Is anxiety messing up your scores on exam day? Have you always been a bad test taker? What was the worst subject and how much are u failing by. You need to put all of this in perspective and go from there. Remember, sometims you can be the smartest guy out there who knows everything, but fail, because ur not understanding hte question. I am sure there are centers that help u work on test anxiety and learning testing strategy. I really think that's what you need to wrok on. If you have read these books so many times, i think you have the knowledge you just need to work on applying it now. You need to make sense of what you have in your head. Don'/t try to memorize, like said by ohters. Try to understand topics and concepts and diseases, b/c according to my experience, ecfmg does test the same concept over and over again, and that helps you get lots of questions right by knowing a single topic well. If you know the material and u think that u know the concepts than it probably is ur test taking skills that are preventing you from passing hte exam. Just hang in there and attack what you are lacking and you'll be able to ace this exam. I think right now for you it is key to IDENTIFY WHAT IS the problem. Okie goodluck!
