I applied for this years match and did not match to a PGY 1 or advanced position I applied for Anesthesiology, a few Prelim Medicine, and Transitional Year. I received only two interviews (1 in Anesthesia and 1 Transitional). Here are my credentials: Graduated from Med School January 2007 Passed USMLEs on first attempt - 79/78/Pass Require H1 or J1 visa (I am Canadian) 2 Years of USCE Very good US LORs from Attendings I have worked with ECFMG Certified I am also taking USMLE Step 3 next month Interview skills are great I am fluent in 8 different languages I called the PD of the Transitional program that I interviewed at after finding out the match result and he was quite surprised I did not match. He told me that he ranked me and that I left a really good impression on faculty after my interview. He urged me to apply again to his program next year. Anyhow, I am no longer considering a career in Anesthesiology (I dont know what I was thinking with my credentials!!!) I will be applying to FP and IM positions for 2008. Based on the aforementioned credentials, is it possible for me to match in to an IM or FP residency. Your opinion is valued. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank You
