: hi guys do we ask CAGE Qs to every pt. who drinks etoh or only to alcoholics .
in other words how much a pt. should drink etoh to ask him the CAGE Qs.
another Q:is FA alone enough to pass the cs exam?
please reply.

from what i have observed it will be pretty obvious who to ask CAGE... there is no hard rule... but SP's on the exam will either drink a beer or two on the weekends, or drink a six-pack every night... there will be no gray...
if you aren't sure, then ask - only takes a minute...
personally i think FA is all you need... better reading...
UW is good only if you are practicing cases with a partner

Ask if they are drinking more than 2-3 drinks per day.
If YES to more than one CAGE question, counsel on quitting.
