I just reposted this qn as I found it very interesting
A 16 year old girl who is 18 weeks pregnant comes to the emergency department after having passed a bloody mass of grape-like tissue per vagina. A diagnosis of molar pregnancy is made, and she undergoes dilation and curettage. Which of the following characteristics will help differentiate a partial mole from a complete mole?

A. Abnormal proliferation of trophoblastic tissue
B. Elevated serum hCG
C. Nucleated RBC's
D. Progression to Choriocarcinoma
E. Villous swelling and edema

E. Villous Swelling and Edema whats the correct answer ? Could be B-HCG too .. the levels are MARKEDLY increased in Complete mole

as I said before I had reposted this qn and the person who originally posted this qn knows that the answer is nucleated RBCs but does not know why and my reasoning is because partial mole has an embryo, its producing RBCs. Anybody with a better explanation or reasoning is most welcome to post their ideas here.
thanx

Yes the Presence of Fetal tissue is highly suggestive of Partial Mole n also amnion n fetal blood cells whereas the Complete Mole Completely Lacks the Presence of any Fetal Tissue.

U Kinda Think Wrong Cos PHM ( Partial Hydatidiform Mole ) goes into Choriocarcinoma

Its in Goljan Rapid Review 07'ed pg 476
" No Increased Risk For Developing a Choriocarcinoma"

Which Means there is a risk just like a Complete Mole
