A patient with colorectal cancer develops septicemia complicated by endocarditis. Which of the following laboratory findings would be most conclusive in the identification of the most like pathogen?
A Beta hemolysis
B CAMP test positivity
C Glycerol teichoic acid cell wall
D Pyrrolidinyl arylamidase positivity
E Solubility in bile

  #2

E- solubility in bile (strep bovis? Group D strep)

  #3

Group D Strep bovis is a normal flora of colon andcauses endocarditis in patients with carcinoma of colon.this association is infact so strongthat pts with s bovis shud be investigated for colonic carcinoma
group D strep hydrolyze esculin in the presence of bile thatis they produce black pigment on bile esculin agar....

beta hemolysis is of no use coz bcoz group d is alpha hemolytic, camp test positive in gm negative enterotoxin watery, non bloody diarrhea, glycerol teichoic acids are rarely used for labs

Pyrrolidinyl arylamidase positivity ..whats that ,can someone plz explain this

S. bovis can grow on bile
