what type of molecular biology /genetics questions wre there?
what resource u used for this subject ,which 1s better kaplan nts for molecular biology or high yield molecular biology?

Hello smalley...I wonder if I can remember those questions.But from what I saw I doubt if my preparation was sufficent.You know ..I really appreciate Kaplan's Biochemistry .It has got Molecular Biology,General Biochemistry and Genetics.I beleieve it is a must.But I did not find it sufficent for the Molecular Biology part..So many experimental things...and I wish they remain experimental !!!!I don't want to be guinea pig again in Step 1.I was blocked in the first block because of it !!I have used high yield molecular too as my score in NBME was low .Please take time again to see the post of "girl interrupted " ..she has given clues to her great sucess in this area.I did not imagine that Genetics would be a problem as my NBME score was very encouraging . Even then..I did not come across any source as copmlete as Kaplan for it too..I am telling you this not because I am 100% Kaplan pro...in fact my sources are not limited in a single area ....which made my study period harder than it should be..I will give more details as people might benefit from my drawbacks and not repeat the same mistake...I hope this helps.

Zolpidem...I took NBME 1-4in the forllowing order...Feb 12. Mar.06, Mar.19 ,Apr.11 .my first schedule was on March 29 and pushed it to Apr. 30. I have posted my scores earlier but for your information ...it is as follows 1-4...430,480,470 and 440.I have found NBME 4 the most difficult.It might be too premature to give a comparative conclusion for me as I am waiting for scores.One thing is for sure NBME indictes your weak and strong areas. For you at least taking NBME 1 is a good time now.Using Q book and Q bank makes a difference.I have used UW too.

hi sanny! i just started with molecular biology ! im doing it along DVDs. any thing you would advise at this point of time? should i run through mol.bio HY now or should i look at it on my sec. if required?

inkspot..you know what I did was I read kaplan Molecular (Biochemistry book) first and followed it again when he was giving the lecture (DVD) (simultaneous).There was a difference between reading about Shine Dalgarno and following it simultneous with the lecture.In fact the lectures I heard were...Molecular biology.,Immunolgy.,Neuroscience.,& of course Goljan!! I was just reading the books .!I am sure I have gone over 2 to 3 times. Following that I also read high yield .This is my experience but you know ..because I really felt deficient (that is what my NBME 4 also shows) it will be good if you also take additional advice from those who are posting success story.But I defnitely say that these are the materials that we must know by the very least.!!

Is there any images, CT, MRI, etc, slides histo, patho etc alot ,more than than usual as you heard in your exam?

What is the exact source of books, Q , review , etc you've use & re; kaplan dvd , did you use all & how many times of dvd, books, Q review , how long is the study with how many serious, non serious hr.

Hello shwehope...Defnitely there were a lot of ct and mri and the case presentaion helps except for the weird MRIs with which I had difficulty.I did use high yield neuro anatomy....it is very very helpful...take my words !!!!you may need to see cts and again MRIs of different organs from BRS ..if you want to avoid another Radiology book.I have never used a radiology text.Not using may be debatable but if those CTs and MRIs in BRS are given time it must be sufficient!!!There were histo slides and patho slides and I had no problem to figure out from the Q stem. Concerning my study duration and mode ..to be honest it has got its difficcult features for situations that I could not avoid ....I better not tell you as you will not benefit from it...I may need to post it in the future in thread......my biggest mistakes , difficulties..challenges..etc. Thank you.
