So, here we go. I took it today in Prometric Test Center in Bethesda, MD. Started at 7:17, finished @ 13:45 (1:45 PM). Exam was "reasonable". Vignettes were pretty short. There were a few long ones, but majority were of reasonable length. Quite a few cases were described vaguely so I presume knowledge of "epidemiology" was important. Mostly IM as expected, majority GI/pulmonology/rheumatology-autoimmune. Very few epidemiology questions. Quite a bit of trauma - repetitive urethral injuries (3 q all asking for retrograde urethrogram). I do not know what else to say. The presented vignettes (diagnostic/therapeutic algorithms) in some cases did not match ones we discuss here at the forum (and that we are being taught by Kaplan...) making "the next best step" hard to pick. Otherwise, I'm fine with the test - it was more pleasant experience than the Step I. Still, I don't want to say a thing, I'll just brace for the result. I decided to go for Step III earlier than I thought previously. There is no point in letting all the freshly learned stuff evaporate. Probably somewhere in late June, after I do 2CS.

Hey vradojc, thanks for the post. I am sure you are gonna do well. As far as the preparation is concerned, did you do the Kaplan QBank? Was it useful, I mean if you had an option that you repeat UW one more time or do Kaplan QBank, what would you pick? Also, were the UW questions representative of the stuff that was tested? Also, if you could elaborate a bit more on what you mean by the epidemiology of the disease and its application?

Also, did you listen to the kaplan lectures? Were they helpful?

So, for preparation I primarily used: Kaplan Lectures; Blueprints Med/Ob&Gyn/Peds; Blueprints Clinical Cases in Medicine/Surgery; NMS Psychiatry/First Aid for 2CK Kaplan qBook/Appleton&Lange Review for Step 2/NMS Reviews for Step 2 and 3 As auxiliary literature I used: Washington Manual of Medical Therapeutics, OHCM, OHCS, NMS Pediatrics/Ob&Gyn/Medicine/Lange Pocket Guide to Diagnostic tests/Brochert Mock Exam/Appleton&Lange Review in Surgery So, no vids/qBanks. Question didn't match neither Kaplan, nor UW (as far as I can say after I saw the ones posted here), they were resembling Mock Exam the most. And I would say that the q in Kaplan and UW are more elaborate and can steer your thought process better since they offer more information. Regarding "epidemiology" - as I said, vague description of quite a lot of vignettes with results of diagnostic tests that do not point to anything specific, will result in picking the MCC of the patients complaints (for the age/sex group) and subsequent treatment plan will follow. I don't know whether I made it a bit more clear. What I actually want to say is that compared to Kaplan/NMS/UW q (that I saw here), vignettes on the test offered less information to select the MCC.
