I'm soooooooooo Saaaaaaaaaaad, Sooooooooo Frustrated, Soooooooo Annoyed, I wanna cry, y ?? y ??? y ???? we need to stand on ur mistakes so as not to repeat them again and to get more next time INSHALLAH ...
Man, what happened ?? u got me so confused ... a very obvious mistake is not getting enough sleep, if u got at least 6 hrs sleep, ur score could have been at least 85 for sure, a word u missed in the stem can get u the q wrong, as u didn't noticed that patient is alcoholic, or African American or ... etc. so u need a fresh mind with full power & full concentration to do it, and it is a very long test 9 hrs is sooo much, u can survive 2 -3 hrs tops, but after that, u'll fall ..
However, i don't get how u got 62% in UW but a low score in NBME ??? this is not matching ... and u've should have done another form of NBME b4 u decide to set for the exam. ... i mean u should have worked on ur weak areas for 3 weeks, then took another form to c did u improved or not ???
The prep. needs u to work it piece by piece, analyze ur performance regularly and work on ur weak areas accordingly, no matter how much time u consume, u don't set for it until u r 100% sure that u mastered everything ..
Saying these words, and ur score, makes me considering cancelling my test .. I'm not doing well, i didn't even got ur score in UW ... so, how i'm gonna pass ??? I'm praying Estekhara today and will decide accordingly ...
I like ur spirit ... " U only lose when u stop trying and u can't win until u r not afraid to lose" ... However, u gotta analyze ur experience very thoroughly and plan ur next step accordingly ...

Thank u dear friends..
I dont like to give up..I want to compensate.. but this bad result makes me unable to even buy the step-1 books..
Alhamdulellah I passed the first strike when I saw my score but still feel depressed and I ask God to help me go on.
@Mezo...
even if I slept those 6 hours and got 85,this is what I didnt expect at all...yes I felt so badly after the test and wished i could even pass but I had a hope to get a reasonable score..
Dont measure ur performance by looking to others` results...everyone has his own circumstances....May God help u

well
egyusmler.....dont know what to say......i know how u r feeling right now.......i felt the same feeling several times ago when i got some bad scores in medical school
but by time u will gradually get over it
now work on ur cv
u have now......step1 and cs and 3
kill urself studying
high scores in 1 and 3 and first time pass in cs + some usce will make u in a good chance beleive me
also learn from ur mistakes
nbme is ur screening tool
dont appear for the coming exams if ur nbme score is bad as u did in step 2
i read about a guy who took nbme in a public library and his score denoted he will fail
he said that there was noise in the library and he will score better and decided to go to the exam
he failed
so nbme is a bless for sure
dont miss the blesses of god
try to benefit for the maximum

right now u should be partying im sure if u have the choice of retaking the test u would rather stick with ur score than going through all the stress over again..
then def go on with the following steps, get yourself done and you'll get a spot after all isa.. of course words cant stop you from worrying, but have faith and confidence think it over deeply and focus on what u do right now.. u wont get dissapointed at the end..

I found this post in another forum. the one who write the post said that he got an externship for 1 yr in general surgery JMH Miami without doing any steps.
can this happen? I try to contact them but they dont have contact information.
what is your comment?

actually rahman the link is for usmleforum
but as a general idea this what i learned from staying long time on many usmle forums
usce after graduation depends on many factors the most important is contacts
here in prepare for usmle one of our friends called mazinger matched in anaeasthesia and beleive me it is way harder than general surgery
he managed to get a usce in internal medicine through a contact
he didnot refuse it although his destiny was anaes
when he was doing his externship he asked the anaesthetists in the same hospital foe anaes externship and they agreed!!!!
so just try to get into the system and dont refuse IM usce cause u want surgery
go for it it wont hurt beleive me
besides some physicians now tend to offer imgs externships to get free work from them
they will benefit from u and eventually u will benefit from them by the lor

surgery electives for one year?!!!!! I have to say that I am trying to find only one elective 5-6 months later and everywhere is full!!! I could hardly find one position in clinical endocrinology, Its not easy at all to get USCE.. everybody is applying!! it has nothing to do with step 1 though, having passed step 1 could just widen you choices cause only some hospitals ask for it!!

surgery USCE also becomes tougher, some want you to have had previous training in surgery in the US so they can accept you!!

What are requirment of externship?
Is it easy to get usa visa by this externship!(300$ unrefundable is lemon bitter)

every school has its own eligibilty requirements, but generally you have to be in last year of medical school in good academic standing and approved to do the electives... and some other things, do a search here:

congratulation man u really made it ....after all u have passed the exam even if with low score....this by all standards is a major step in your life......as for the low scores as u said u still have other cards in your hand and i am sure if u r determient enough u will beat all the odds
any way i am preparing my self for studying for usmle1 im in the process of taking a 1 year vaccation from my residency (( nile hospital for helth insurance)) because i realiesed that its impossible to do it both (residency+usmle) and i am gathering informations about the sources i will use ......so if u want we can conact each other and try to buy the books together and maybe we can study together...so if u agree just send me ur e mail addres on hamo222000@hotmail.com so i can send u my numbers
