Ledo111, sounds to me like an emergency call 
I was preparing from kaplan notes, there are many other sources I wasnt aware of... they say Goljan is also good... etc, do a search under step 1 materials or prep materials.. you gon find heaps of them!!
Unfortunately I got rid of everything right after I was done with the exam, but you'll find them everywhere!

I do have them but they are like 8-9 yrs old, you can take them if you want.. just make sure if they'll be of any use..

if the name in the passport different from that in u faculty u hav to issue acertificate that the 2 names belong 2 one person

BREAKS:
I have started my test around 9 AM....I took the first two blocks with only a 2-3 minutes break while I`m setting on my seat..Just for reciting el Fateha and pray for el Naby Sallah Allah alayh Wa sallam.this what a Libian Guy advised me to do while I was getting up the stairs of the center
I then took a longer break after the 2nd,and the 3rd blocks(ab 5 minutes after each one).
I had a light lunch+a cup of coffee after the 4th block.
inbetween the 5th-8th blocks I got a break(5minutes)after each one.
AUDIOS and EKGs:
I`m sorry to say that I`m weak at these areas.So I had to guess and choose any answer.Most of time,I didnt know what they were about so I cant tell how difficult they were...anyway,I got only ab 2 murmurs and another 2 ab EKGs.
BIOSTATISTICS:
I was waiting for its questions from time to time..But unfortunately I had only ab 3 although I spent long time studying them..Dont worry,very easy stuff.
STEP-1:
I only got very few questions(may be 2 or 3)that seem to be related to step-1 e.g.which nerve affected?what is the mechanism?what is the muscle affected...BUT I can say honestly step-1 is not a problem at all for taking step2-ck for two reasons: 1st>very very few questions...2nd>u can answer these questions just from ur readings of CK.
BRAIN CTs:
I think I got only one..but I really dont remeber what it was ab..sorry

The NMBE form 2 is the closest to the real test.
UW is different in 2 points:1st the questions in UW have more obvious clues than in the real test...2nd:it is not common to get two reasonable answers for a single question in UW,while this is the case with ab 50% of the real test.
I havnt taken step-1 yet

I see you have same symptoms I have gone through! you dont remember anything, u think ur not gonna make it, also u feel UW was easier!

not yet but im planning to do couple of electives next year... about ur question of doing electives while in emteyaz... u wont be eligible to do externships unless ur med school states that you havent graduated yet, otherwise you'll only be eligible for observerships... etc, the topic was discussed everywhere..

I do realize that after graduation one is only eligible for observerships or externships, but while we are considered graduates in "emtiaz", by all standards, or at least by US standards, we are considered 4th year students, cause most elective programs require that anyone applying for an elective must be a student who has completed all core clerkships, which are basically the clinical rotations we took through med school (rounds before emtiaz)
That leaves us, as I mentioned in the other thread, trapped due to the lack of understanding from our autocratic, bureaucratic, fascist, corrupt, mother fu**ing system. Excuse my language

Now, in here they refuse to acknowledge that we are students, there they refuse to acknowledge that we are graduates, it's quite frustrating. And and when I tell them could I meet the dean to explain it to him, he's always either busy in a meeting or something or away.
This means that in order to do an elective one has to go in the very narrow time period between finishing your last MBBCh exam and starting your internship (emtiaz)
So I was just wondering if anyone from Egypt, did electives and how they did it?

Those are two separate things, externships are where you have clinical contact with patients, observerships on the other hand let you only observe.

As an intern, you're not considered a 4th yr student even by US standards as you could have gotten your diploma without el emteyaz.
Most hospitals require that anyone applying for electives has to be in last year of medical school.. I dont think "completed of all core clerkships" was meant to say done with everything cause basically they want students for electives.

Negative...
You won't receive your diploma before completing your 12 months training i.e. emtiaz... When I asked for a graduation certificate from the graduates' affairs, they issued me a temporary one which stated that I had to complete a 12 months training program before the diploma is issued and hence the predicament... it implies that I am still a student
I even faced this problem when applying for the USMLE step 2 CK online...
Cause in the application they ask if your school requires a year of training before issuing the diploma
ECFMG wouldn't acknowledge that I am a graduate
In the US they have 4 years of college and 4 years of med school, so by their standards I'm not even a 4th year student I am a 3rd year student... semantics
I guess eligibility criteria vary when it comes to electives, Mount Sinai, the hospital I wanted to do an elective in, even has 1st and 2nd year student programs...
Anyways I would have never considered an elective, thinking that I am a graduate, but according to them I am still a student, so I thought why not use this to my advantage, especially that externships are getting harder to get and observerships are worthless...
I guess, either no one here did an elective or no one has read this yet...
And Faddy, I'm guessing you're a 5th year student (our standards ) Coz you say you're going to have an elective next year and your convinced it's in the last year which according to you isn't emtiaz, so you must be in 5 th year... eureka... I should have been a detective...
Anyways waiting for feedback people

u r a graduate after the 6th year
internship is a training year.....the first yr in residency in usa
in egypt as australia they make it a separate year be4 residency

Abo Ramy , the temporary certificate implies that you're a graduate but not authorized to practice medicine yet.. el kartoon is usually late because of magles el game3at not the yr of internship, you'll still get it tho without el emteyaz..

dude this is not correct, the first 4 years are premedical studies that doesnt count into med school.. plus its your own school that says whether you've graduated or not and ECFMG will approve it.
And yes I'm a 5th yr student, im now doing the paperwork of application and will let you know whether I'll be approved as last year student or not

I'm telling you guys when I mailed this temporary certificate to ECFMG, the counselor, or whoever gets the e-mails at info@ecfmg.org replied telling me you better re-apply as a student. I did tell him that it's just a matter of time till I get the diploma, while I'm still in training. He insisted that I should still apply as a student to avoid "suspicious behavior", and I didn't want that so I decided I'd apply when I'm through with internship we khalas.
Another piece of evidence that proves they consider those in emtiaz as students, is that there was this agency in Maryland called FMGaffordable... it provides externships for FMGs for a considerable amount of money, you can't say it's non profit, $ 4000 for 4 weeks isn't exactly affordable. Anyways, when I asked the sponsoring physician, an Indian Charu Mehta M.D, about clerkships or (electives), she told me that they offer that to last year students, preferably in the last 2 months of internships (that even applies to India apparently), so that the 2 months of electives, in co-ordination with your native university, would be transferred to the internship credit.
So what do you guys think I should do then, search for externships and observerships we khalas?
What about research positions? Does anyone know anything about that, they say it's a good route to an H1 visa... while most hospitals don't consider it USCE, it's a stable way to get pocket money and a visa, any thoughts?
I've heard alot of crazy ideas, like being a nurse or a physician assistant before getting into residency, as those jobs are in demand and that way you'd at least be exposed to the medical environment while being guaranteed a visa, especially for those who want a surgery residency
I've heard that most IMGs who get a surgical residency do not continue beyond PGY1, because of visa issues...

i have a problem and i dont know how to resolve so i hope u can help me
well i applied at the ecfmg.org and i typedmy name as (ABDULRAHMAN KHAMISS ABDULRAHMAN RAGEH)
and i get the papers needed from my faculty (el shahada el kartoon + el mo2akata +el ta2derat) but in these papers my name is typed as (ABDUL-RAHMAN KHAMISS ABDUL-RAHMAN RAGEH)
i tried to make a new apply at ecfmg.org but failed
now i dont know what to do
i didnt translate el shahada el kartoon aw el mo2akata yet
so what should i do ??

or ask the ecfmg to rechange ur name and tell them the reason
