hey guys
it is me again
the plan mezo sets 4 me gets me vertigo..lol
i like it so much..i even have started it...BUT have some Qs
plez answer them all
according to this plan i don't have any issue wz my college anymore i mean not to care abt my grade and to spend more time in the preparation(i know i need to study my stuff well to be able to go through the steps but im talking abt studying in the right way not the way that please our colleges here.
how long it takes to finish the praparation?
wat abt taking my exams in the 5th year ....can i do that?
once i saw faddy wrote that he thought that taking his exam after the 4th year was a false decision??!!!!!!
faddy told me that electives are only allowed for guys don't have rounds at their countries and we actually have OR assume we have...lol?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i think that electives are so hard to be got!!!!!!!!!
can i travel to the usa in the 6th year to have the elective and stay 4 two months there after the electives ....can i pass the 6th year although staying in the usa 4 abt 3 months???
can i pass CS although i wouldnt have finished my study yet while im there???
my english is good as some natives told me but im afraid from taking exam costs 5000 egy while i miss one word in the english??
the last Q.......... wat will be the scenario if im a doomed guy and have to serve in the military forces 4 THREE YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im afraid to lose the 7 years validity...

Are all these qs obligatory ????
Look Ledo, 1st of all don't put urself in the corner of her is bad, there is good, i wanna skip here and go there .... Nothing is guranteed .. nothing is taken for granted ... Make ur approach of usmle is that u wanna have the best education to provide the best health care for ur patients ... this will help u alot in ur prep. will let u get in depth understanding of the topics u read and approach the qs in a better way ....
2nd, no one said u don't have to care about ur grades,no, Look the difference between our education system and theirs is that we give a lot of science with no application at all, they give much less science but applying it all .. so, if u combined both, think what will happen, u'll have a lot of science with application .. u'll ace any other IMG ... Also, ur prep for usmle will be much easier, and think of this as a second plan, although Faddy my not agree with me, but i still see that u have to secure ur position in Egypt .... Grades helps a lot ...
3rd, prep for step1 needs from 6-9 months of 5-6 hrs/day in the begining with about 12 hrs at the final months, u may prepare in a much less time, if u actually remebr those topics well and won't need so much of time to memorize them, u can do it then in 3 months or so ...
4th, i don't know about ur 5th yr exams. ... Faddy may give u a better picture, he was the one who actually did it and it wasn't a mistake at all, he got 89 which is a decent score ... but i think u can, u still in the begining of 5th yr, u can pursue both ... step1 although is basic knowledge but the qs are actually clinical, they present a case which u have to diagnose in ur mind then they will ask about the pathology of the disease, the genetics, the physiology ... etc. So u'll get clinical knowledge as well .. which will help u in 5th yr for sure ...
Electives are much easier than observers and externships .. my borther tried a couple of yrs ago to apply for it and he got accepted in Yale university and got an answer too from Harvard ... it is not that difficult, but he didn't catch the deadline so he couldn't .... so, u'll need to be aware of their deadline of application and complete ur application documents, which will include passing TOEFL international test with the passing score that they determine for u, u'll need also a letter from the faculty stating that u r a final yr medical student, also they may ask for letters of recommendation from ur supervising doctors, start searching and exploring these things from now so when u get to 6th yr u'll be prepared in time ....
Then u've to get approval from ur faculty to transfer the rounds that u'll get as electives, so that when u come back with letters from there stating that u trained a month or 2 or 3 in the department of .... then Tanta will accredit and u'll pass these Rounds ... may be just ask u for examination or something, u should explore this too ...
P.S.
Put in mind that u'll pay for electives about 200-300/week + ur stay expenses + travel .. u should explore all of that too
Man I don't know y u r so afraid of ur english .... we are all the same, and we all do the same and don't tell me that after spending 3-4 month working in a hospital in USA, ur language won't improve ... Teb2a se3edy 3alatoooool ... after this excellent training u'll be very well prepared to pass CS, it will be a piece of cake for u ...
Regarding the army, if u focused on ur grades and actually got a residency in the universtiy, then ur army will be just 1yr .. this is for sure ... u can plan to do that .. and if u have any connections they do that easily .... leave it for its time ..
u r now in 5th yr, let's say u'll do step1 in 2009, then CS in 2010, ur 6th yr ends in 2011 and Emtiaz 212 then army if 3 yrs will be 2015 .. will be exactly 7 yrs ... u can actually do step2 during ur army service .. i've a friend who did both step1 & 2 in the army and got 99 in both ... he is so briliant, but unfortunately he suffered till he got the visa, got refusal twice b4 he get it then travelled to fail in CS and trying to do it again ... so u can do it in the army .. and actually u can do it in emtiaz and u can postpone ur 6th yr exams to do step2 or postpone couple of months of emtiaz to do step2 ... mutliple choices ... whatever u like
I hope that answered all ur qs ... lots of qs, reminded me of this yr physics exam

Practical life completely diff. From uni. Life!
You should go emergency dep. In your uni. Hospital and start to observe ,learn,practice the real medicine .....
Make it like 3hrs everyday in emergency...I.C.U...
Discuss with senior dr what is real future ....What alternatives!...
I know dr passed usmle1 and ck then failed to take visa for cs then he tried french option and succeeded and he is in france takin his residency......!!!

i was talking to a friend of mine in the usa she said that she feels sorry that egyptians cant get visas easily
i told her wz full feeling of pride ;when i passed the steps here in egypt even the american embassador cant stop me.

Don't mind urself with visa issues right now, everytime has its own circumstances and every case differ from the other ... SO, just focus on ur prep. for now and it is for sure if u done with them u'll have a decent chance to get the visa ... worry for that later ...

Again all u need is life experience!
Life is a game need some keys to deal with it.
Visa issue is also prob. 4 any1 in the world!!!
I have friend want travel to usa for fun and he did it very easly but he was clever to get what he want!!!
Look at story in dvd4arab.Com boy who stayed only 8days in australia !!And back again cause he duznt hav enough experience!!!

Pathology ... Don't watch them at all .. instead listen to Goljan ... after ur 2nd reading

Micro ... Don't watch them
Immunology 2007 ... more than gr8 ... a must
Anatomy 2002 is gr8 ... i don't know about 2007

the guy of Biochemistry in 2002 is the one who teaches pharma in 2007 .. u can imagine how gr8 it is ... especially the Autonomic section ...

Kaplan notes & centerprep videos 2007 ... u can find them in Ain Shams and Kasr Ainy Book stores ... but be sure that the videos are 2007 .. if not look for them on the web

i thought i had to wait till i graduete....but if u surf the thread backward u can see wat mezo has told me.
u can download kaplan 2007 4 free and save a lot of money
there r audios but wont be efficient like the DVDs
everybody recommend goljan pathology

There are Audios, but they are the same as the video, just separated the Audio from the Video ... can be beneficial if u wanna listen to them on the run ..
U r right Pathology in Kaplan is so Baaaaaad .. but we use Goljan Audio and the notes provided with it ... they are availble with the videos and u can download them from the net as well, actually if u scrolled back 1 or 2 pages, someone has posted a link to download all goljan stuffs ...
Also, if u scrolled up u'll find a rating by me for the videos
I don't know about BRS, i didn't use myself, but i heared good things about it ... better use Goljan ...

Please don't over estimate me ... we was like u and without the help with our friends we won't be able to know all of this ... it is a way of paying back
