el karton is released in arabic, how your name is written Abdel-rahman, and you said you did not translate it.
you have 2 option either to make arequest of name change or when you translate your name ask them to write it as abdelrahman.
by the way if you still do not have a passport your name will be written as Abdelrahman when you issue it.
forget about the temporary certificate. you will not need it

your 1st step should be getting your passport,as you don't choose how your name will be written in it,they will write it as they like....
and after it's released [ and it takes one day as I remember ] ,then you see if the name in it matches exactly the name in your ECFMG site...,and if it doesn't,then you'll send them a copy of it with the specific form asking for name change, and they will change it within 1 or 2 weeks maximum...,
and finally when you're getting any credentials translated in your faculty take your passport with you and write them the name exactly as you want it to appear and they will issue them for you as you ordered.

U can control ur name in the passport, but u gonna suffer a lot, I changed it 3 times just to get my name typed correctly, at the last time, i typed it in my PC and printed it in big letters and wrote plz type as u c ... and there i told them this is my 3rd time, plz type it as this paper, they stabled it in the application and the guy get me the lady who is gonna type it, i explained the difficult to type the impossible name to her and she finally did it

hii everybody, this is my first time to post a thread on this forum which i found while looking for more information about usmle. i am 2004 graduate from tanta medical school and i am an orthopeadic resedient now , iam a us citizen by birth and ofcoarse i am preparing for usmle exam but the problem is i got lost between all these information and sources i found on internet so i am looking for somebody who have the excepearience to be kind and try to answe some of my questions:
which is better to start with step1 or step2 ck??
is kaplan notes enough for studiying for usmle step 1??
should i listen to kaplan dvd..... how much time does it take to listen to it??
if i am preparing for step 1 how much time do i need for preparing

For the doctor that wanted to change his name in ECFMG :
I think you can fax the documents instead of using Courier service ( DHL) cuz it will cost you a lot of money for just changing your name.
It's written in form 182 ( Biographic change ) that you can fax the documents or mail them.
Try that, it may work.

1- step 1 be4 2 better
2- nothing is enough for step 1......but if u used kaplan notes for all the stuff except for patho get goljan notes + first aid + usmle world....inshallah u will get a high score
3- very long time beleive me.......if u dont have much time just listen to : physiology, micro,behavioural science, bio , and goljan audios for patho
4- if u study 12 hrs per day u can take the exam 6-8 months afterwards

What is the difference guys between the 2 versions ??
I downloaded the new version but I can't notice the change except in the design and colours only. Is there something else ?

Hiii maoudoody, thanks for such a quick reply . i think its a great idea to have such a forum that connects egyption imgs and make it easy for information and resources swap.
i found most of the kaplan notes and dvds in kasr elaini book stores but where to find goljan notes??
i heared that there is usmle coarse done in some centers infront of kasr elaini do u know anything about it???

goljan is present in el manar bookstore in ainshams medical school
the two books
one 700 pages and the other 340 pages
the 700 pages one is more like a text book and the other is a review book
as regard courses i heard about them
but beleive me u only need what i mentioned
kaplan dvds+ kaplan notes+ goljan audio and book + first aid+ usmle world
if u done these 3 times and got less than 95 come and kill me
dont forget to assess ur level 2-3 months before the exam by one of the nbme tests
