guys i have a qs outside the usmle , actually its about the college and i need yr help, i,m in the final year now i have surgery & IM , should i attend the private revision lessons or its better to stay at home and study  i'm comfused and i feel its better to stay at home and save time but my friends tell me that i should attend these lessons  donnu what to do need yr advice guys

dude, take my word... do not take private lessons! I havent attended any since 1st year!! My grades are not excellent but I dont care cause I dont wanna stay here.. study home, this is what I'm actually doing I have Peds next week!

I took private lessons in 6th year just to go there with my fiancee and didn't do anything with them...,I got good at the end but as Faddy said,I don't care ....

Look, it is up to u, it depends on so many things, 1st, is it the 1st time for u to take private lessons?? do u usually study alone ?? what did u do ??? how was ur grades ??? if low, then taking a private lesson will sure help ?? if high then u obviously doing good and no need to take them ???
I don't agree with the atittude of I don't care, coz we never know what the future carries for us, so we have to work our best on what we have currently, What if USA closed its Doors infront of IMGs like UK did ?? what if for any reason they don't issue Visas for IMGs anymore ?? what if we couldn't do good on their exams ?? what if .... , what if,..... what if......
lots of possibilities, so just do ur best to be the best in what u do currently, don't look back and don't look forward only to the full part of the glass ....
U r the only one who can determine the answer for this q ... For myself, i did took lessons, they help alot, at least with the Notes to study from, but this was in Mansoura, i think in Cairo it is different, as Notes are available easily ... SO good luck

I was just stating that everything is possible, so y to plan on something that is not in my hand and loose what is in my hand already ??? a Bird in Hand is better than 10 on a tree ( = 3asfoor felyad khayr men 10 3ala elshagra ) .. That what i was just stating ... I don't like the cruelty of these words as much as u do, even more ... However, pain is sometimes a necessity to cure, an injection hurts but necessary to cure ...
I won't leave Faddy, if u don't like my words, u leave .. hehehehehe

im a6th year student and i was here by another username but it changed spontanously
i dont know why? so i hav 2 start from the begining 
about private lessons its amatter of accomodation
if u ar used 2 study alone(help u self) so no need 4 lessons
if u used 2 take private lessons dont change u style its the final year
i used 2 take courses till the 4th year but now i count on my self
and my degree is excellent
and about it dosnt matter the degree yes its ok
but u need 2 learn this will help in USMLE

Mezo... Lately how was your mood, sleep, appetite and energy? I see people graduate from med school in egypt and get depressed!! I'm joking bro cause if thats true, I can learn from your mistake of graduation and go live happily in hurghada for the rest of my life I've just met today with a graduate since 2005 working now in fayoum I had few suicidal thoughts in my mind after our conversation!!

What's in my Hand Faddy is => My DIPLOMA .... Although it is not Accredited Anywhere, still the only thing that opens the doors for u to continue ur Education Anywhere else ...
And by the way, Do u know that one of the evaluation criteria Of residency applicants is their performace in ur Medschool ?? and they do ask u about that ?? So, of course it is something that is bad -ve, yet not a very good +ve on ur CV
Also, if u ever planned to work in gulf area, ur performance in Med school will sure affect ur status
If u tried to get an MD and a residency in Egypt then ur scores in ur Faculty will affect ur choices ... and don't tell me not my plan, me neither, but i should consider, y ?? let me tell u a short story ....
Do u know the 1st time i ever thought about USMLE ??? it was in 2001 .... do u remember what happened this yr ??? World Trade center attacks, and the world changed after that ..... all i worried about this moment was the visa and that USA will be a hell for Arabs, so what i'm gonna do next ??
So I had to think in alternatives all the time and the only thing in my Hand was my current studies, I had to ace that and i did my best ... and till now i face an obstacle following an obstacle, it is not moving smoothly, at least with me, but it can happen with anyone, Nothing in life is just like that, u have to face bumps everynow and then, and u've to learn to be prepared to them and work them out ....
Money is not everything Faddy, u'll get money some how in ur life, most of Doctors are living well and leading a good life either inside or outside the country, Ofcourse the differnce is huge, but still here is OK ... I started this road only because i'm looking for education, we r dealing with human being and i don't wanna hurt them with my lack of knowledge , that's all ...
I hope u got what i meant by what u have in ur Hands ....
And BTY, this is not depression, not demotivation, not a -ve symptom either, it is just a lesson of life that i learned, and don't wanna c anyone else go through what i've been through to learn it ... I'm not a pessimestic person, on the contrary, if i'm, then i'd have left this road at least 2 yrs ago, but i'm still moving ALHAMD LELLAH .... my CV is SO DAMN WEAK ... but still moving ... Getting a Visa for my case, is too difficult ... but i'm still moving .... just working on alternatives, that what i'm doing ....

Well I'll try to reply to every paragraph one by one
I'm not saying not to get your diploma Its just the grades are not that helpful at all for a US residency... what you're talking about is the MSPE (medical school performance evaluation) which is only a routine document that you have to provide, and its almost useless for IMGs!! every country has different criteria so they dont really look at it... I was so told by program directors on SDN.
Dump the gulf anyway im not really aware of opportunities in there for egyptians but I guess its not that good in both cases!!
And OF COURSE!!! forget about residency in egypt cause simply I have never seen anybody satisfied in a university hospital or anywhere else governmental!! Its you who should be saying that not me a student that just hears from people!!
I dont mean getting a US residency after USMLE is definite, but thats the case generally in life.. you're never sure about anything, JUST FOCUS ON THE BETTER CHOICE!! I'm not encouraging students to get "ma2boul" neither but personally I'm not killing myself cause I know its not worth it, and I save my effort for step 2 but as elrifai noted, knowledge will help in USMLE! So just do it for entertainment purposes only

Personally, if getting a US residency doesnt work for me after everything for any reason.. I dont know what I'm gonna do with my life!!
Before I go to med school, I had an opportunity to study law and work with my father in "magles el dawla".. And I have chosen medicine based on going to the states after I'm done because all my relatives are there, besides I like the career and bla bla.. So if it wont work well, you dont imagine what I do with myself!!!
