Hey frnds..I need ur advice especially from mezo,faddy,ra7man and all those went to the amideast b4. I`d like to arrange how i`ll get the amideast now...My test date is 8/July but I dont like to ocuupy my mind by this matter in the last days,so I want to decide from now. well,I`m from Tanta and takes ab 1.5 h to be in cairo plus ab 45 min to reach the amidesat, ofcourse this is if the traffic will be esay..I have my car but I think it`s not reasonable to use it..My family suggests to travel from here on the test day with a private car from the home door to the amideast door Should I spend the night b4 the test in cairo either with one of my frnds working there or in a hotel?....Plz give my ur suggestions. Another point...I know that the amidesat is in Eldokki-mosaddaq st 23..but I`d like to know the esaiest way to reach there..what are the most famous places or marks there?...If I get a taxi for example,Tell him what?..el amidesat yastah? Thx in advance

@ usmler, Ofcourse the best is to go the night b4 the test, u can't expect what the traffic will look like in that day ??? what if there is something in the road that blocked it for Hours, best and to be safe is to go the day before ... besides the exam is on 9 , u gonna travel from Tanta since 5 am, y that early and ofcourse u gonna get up earlier than that ??? u wanna be in shape and full energy for the test I used to stay in a Hotel in Dokki named Indiana 3 stars, night for 150 LE with breakfast, u call them now, when the switch answers, ask him to divert u to the reception, then when the reception answers, tell them that u wanna Book a single room and that u'll be checking in on .... the day b4 ur test and checking out the next day , then ask for the name of the one who made the reservation for u, so that when u call a couple of days b4 ur test to confirm ur reservation, u knew the one who made the reservation for u ... plz follow the same order, coz the 1st time, i thought that the switch is the reception and i told him about the reservation and he said ok, done ... when i called 2 days b4 the test there was no reservation in my name and that was hell, no time for that, but it went ok after lil argument ... BTY, u can stay only one night and the day of the exam. u can leave ur bags in the safe (Amanat ) at reception and come back after the test to take it and leave ... here is their no. ... 02/333-54-503 & 02/333-54-422 .... The hotel is in Venni Square, in Dokki, very near to Amideast that u can walk if u know the way, u just take a taxi and tell him 23 Mosaddak st., he will get u there and it will be on ur right hand, and infront of it there is Raya or Nokia center ... on ur right too ... Good Luck

Mahalla Rocks don_carlioni ... is a revolutionary person wanna establish United States of Mahalla Guys we r all in the same ship, put ur target upon ur eyes, we all have the same target, so what will add to our journey to have a separate gathering ???? Nothing ... together we will get more, we all Egyptians, we all brothers and sisters ... We all on the same ship, and INSHALLLAH we will get it to the safe shore together ... just focus on our mission ... BTY, I like ur nickname don_carlioni , it is very nice Italian name, what it stands for ??? who is Don_carlioni ?? i think i read this name in one of Ragol EL Mostaheel series stories

@ usmler, I didn't mean to take that train in the day of the test, i was just suggesting to use this one, coz with a long stay in home b4 the test, not a lot of movement or going out, because of ur prep, followed by a journey to cairo will get u so tired, u r not accustomed to movement, so, i just was suggesting the least way that can get u tired, it is just an opinion, u may think of another way . egyusmler, mezo's plan would be the best for you... mosaddak street is well known, if you take a cab tell him Nokia... pretty easy to get there! I could see some hospitals have up to $300-400 application fee for electives! What if they dont accept me? does that usually happen in electives? even if I meet all their requirements? And should I be applying to many hospitals??? I wanna get it done now so I book suitable dates next year for 2 months electives and the CS right after, but the question is (el beyetra7 nafso ) Will I pass CS while still a final year student?? I guess they take a prep course for couple of weeks?

Salam everyone, I am very old egyptian graduate, i had a PhD from Egypt, finishing a PhD in US; however I am never satisfied by what I am doing in this carrier. I am very interested in studying the USMLE, and practice medicine. I have all the materials, but go on and off in studying, feeling it is too late to do it. Does anyone have a suggestion or will be encouraging to do it? Anyone in my situation . salams25@hotmail.com

Well Faddy, U can mail them inquiring, what if i didn't get acception, there will be refund or not ?? And i just got gr8 news regarding CS guys, Did u know that since NBME raised the passing scores in English professiency and communication skills parts of CS exam and that failure rate increased a lot, I've a friend currently is doing an observership in clevland, he got 91/99 and failed CS, retaking the test soon ISA ... he met guys who r taking kaplan course and they told him that in Kaplan they told them that the passing score for spoken english professiency is 92% and it includes also proper use of grammer, could u imagine that ??? and the passing score for communication skills is 90% , and guess what is the passing score for data gathering skills ??? just 50% ??? could u beleive it ??? The good news is, they told them in Kaplan that they will reset back the passing scores in CS starting in August of this year to the previously used scores .... So, cheer up .... For u Faddy, No courses r needed or anything, if u managed to get an elective, this will be so gr8 for u and will be the best prep. ever, and the only course that people talk about is the Schwartz Course in New York it is held once/month for about 1000$ .... here is the link to it ... http://www.c3ny.org/ GL

you're always helpful man! All application fees are not refundable! I'm not really sure how it works because I dont think people put like 2-3 grands just on electives applications which could be all in vain! Or do they chose only one and they know there is no reason to not accept the applicant if he's meeting the requirements?

I don't know Faddy, I really think that u should mail or even call them before u pay anything, ask about ur chances and may be u should start a topic here in this forum asking about that and see how poepl will respond to u .... but i think that it is not like that and the chances are good, coz not much of applicants to electives from outside the US, u should mail 1st inquiring about the chances of International students, do they accept them or not ??? then plan from their ... I know doctors getting matches at 45 year of age in tough specialities too. Just try to focus. It's your career and your life. It requires you a year and a half to finish ( not too long ). Your PhD from the states will open every door for you. Don't waste that.

So, what do u think who will qualify from Group C today with Netherlands ??? and what do u think the result of the Match of Italy Vs France ... BTY, i'm not a big Fan of Italy, i don't like there Calichio Defence style, get on my nerves, i like more Netherlands style in this tournment, and from what i c the final 4 will be Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and anyone else .... and i think Netherlands will win it Good Luck
