Thx fadddy...I can understand that UW is very useful;but dont u see that I also have to review basics from a rapid revision book like FA or Crush?...or u want me to pay all of my time for UW?!...thx again for ur advice

I'm not very familiar yet with step 2, maybe someone here who has already taken it can be more useful to you than me... but I think the same applies to both steps.. as far as I know, FA is very important too! I think you should be doing UW now, and leave the last week or two for a quick final review from kaplan books.. this is what I did!
Besides NBME!! and FA as well which of those you should do first is all up to you, again its your call

did u do UW or not?? if u didn't then u've to pay all ur time to it right now, if u did part of it then it dpeneds on ur status, but in general Step2 is more about doing a lot of qs, u sometimes hold the book in ur hands but u still can't solve the q, so give always the priority to qs ... i think best is to focus on finishing UW, then after that keep solving the wrong qs with ur review this time, then do NBME for assessment ...

Guys i need ur help,
I'm now in a very bad shape, just finished UW with a cumulative score of 48% which is too bad, doing NBME form 4 and its qs are even harder and different than UW ...
I'm highly considering cancelling my appointment, the problem is there is no available dates whatsoever till end of july, and Nany said even in August no dates ... A friend of mine over this forum said to me that prmetric keep opening dates every month but they are filled so fast, especially those in the summer months, so do u think, it is wise to cancle my appointment and wait for those openings, they did that in May and in june they opened 3 dates too, but all b4 my appointment ... I'm really confused, worried and don't know what to do ???
I even confirmed from the info that NBME add 2 new forms for step1 pool, which i think will be more important to do them than to do the previous coz they r more recent ....
What do u advice ??? Do u think Amideast will open new dates ???

what do you mean amideast will open new dates? its about the seats available there, the free dates will be those canceled by others.. so u never know! plus if u wanna put it off, end of july will be fine because what u gonna do with only a week or two?!
but anyway, i think you will pass with this score in UW.. it does vary from one to another though! but i think its not too bad, because your performance should be much better after having done UW you was just using it as a learning tool!

Thank u faddy for ur answer,
The dates don't just become available by people cancelling their owns, as we all know here that amideast always give dates for usmle on tuesdays, but this month they gave 2 dates in wednesday, they didn't use to do this b4, but after they closed a no. of centers in middle east, so giving only 1 day/week for usmle is not enough ....
And when i honestly evaluated my status, i discovered that i need extra work Faddy, work that i can't do in a week, i've only 8 days till my exam. can u tell me how u gonna finish each branch in just 1 day, and still have to do UW wrong qs and ALL 6 forms of NBME in just 8 days ??? it is so difficult, i planned to do it anyway, i was just gonna focus on the high yield points and then do the best i can in the remaining qs ... but if i postponed, sure i'll do better ....
It is not just about passing Faddy, i know i can pass, but getting a low score is so bad to the extent that considering failing is better, i heared stories about people failing themselves when they enter the exam and don't feel they r doing well ... ofcourse i don't wanna put myself in that place ..
ALL I ASK FOR, does anyone has any idea about their policy, do they really open dates, i know i saw it happening, but i just wanna make sure if this is a policy or just a matter of luck ???

Actually you have my deepest sympathy because I know how u feeling right now before the exam!!
well obviously you cant do all of that in a week.. so if you still have traces of enthusiasm to study give yourself another month, and will still be pretty early if u wanna match next year... why dont u call amideast yourself and make sure?

@Mezo..how many months have u been prep for step1?..will u be able to get ur fees from the ECFMG if u cancelled?(Just 2 questions)
Let me tell u something...if u cancelled and couldnt manage to get a new date I`d say till the end of year may be,what would be ur situation then?U still have CK and CS not done yet...R u sure ab ur circumstances in the coming months?sure not...
If u say that u r sure of passing but not high score,why u dont give it a trial and see?U used to tell us ab experiences ab others..havnt u heard b4 ab ppl getting excellent scores despite low performance in UW and even despite feeling failure after taking the test?
I guess it is better not to change ur schedule now while u r under stress;stress cant help to get a right decision.
Go ahead,brother...U already did what u can do and it is not ur fault that the amidesat wont offer more places after ur date so u can postpone.
and come here mezo...would u let a small usmler with a little experience like me to tell u that it is not only score that counts?..I know what u want to say,but who knows?future may hide a good thing for u!!Why u dont do ur best to strenghthen ur CV if u just passed(as u guess)?why we-egyptians-look only for high scores for getting matched?are we less skilled than indians?!....
Mezo..U said that some guys let them selves fail if they feel not doing well..excuse me this is foolish in my point of view..are they sure of being able to do best in prep next time?u know?on the next attempt such person may fail not because he did so intentionally but because he couldnt do what he was able to do on the first time......

Go ahead man and dont hesitate..If U pass even if with low score,this would be much better than other options as I see..If u fail(Laqaddar Aallah),it is ur chance then to do it again with better prep and higher score,taking in consideration that U simply did ur best and it was out of hands..

I want to add.......
If u dont like my suggestion,it is very simple...Just cancel ur date and pay for extending ur eligibility operiod or even reapply if u already extended b4..
every prb has many options for bening solved..it is u who can choose between them...we only advise,support and saying "May God help U"

Thanks Usmler and Faddy,
1st, this bullcrap i actually heared in Amideast, from the lady in the lecture about USMLE a couple of years ago ... I know it is for sure Foolish, i know that, i was just pointing out the importance of scores .... A collegue of mine got 80 on step1 then got 94 on 2 and cleared CS all from the 1st attempt and he got an observership in Cleveland clinic international, of the very best institutions in the world, applied last yr for 70 programs and didn't get even a single interview ... that's y i'm stressing on the importance of scores ...
2nd, i already cleared Ck and the thing is i cleared it from the 2nd attempt and with a low score 79, and i got by then 49% i.e. even higher by 1% from my current score, that's y i know i'm not ready... it is not the stress talking, it is the logic, all my friends who passed with 90s were getting scores in the 60s in UW, so i'm too far behind, i need to work more and more
3rd, i'm considering extension ofcourse and by the way Nany, it is only 50$, who said it is 100$ ??? i checked it .... but i hope i'll find a date soon in the begining of july ISA, all i need is just another good review and finishing all NBMEs ...
Thanks usmler for taking the time trying to reassure me, but it is not the panic, i'm not that person, i think this will be a stupidity if i took the exam with those very clear signs of being unready, this test is one chance, and u gotta ace it .... i did that before, i was getting 49% in UW and i said yeh but the exam will be different and i've learned from UW, and that wasn't true, they did put NBMEs for us to assess ourselves before the test and if i'm not ready then y to take the chance, it is not a gambling game ....
I know it seems that i already made my mind, but actually, letting out my thoughts and discussiong them with u like that is what actually gets me to a final decision, I prayed Estakhara for ALLAH and ISA tomorrow will decide what i'm going to do ...

Mezo,
Only you can decide and only you are the one giving the test. I can only say one thing do an Estekarah and then still you have options open. IF and Only if you feel confident then please sit in the exam. Scores are very very important. Just remember that. When i gave my exam i only prayed one thing that get me the score the that will get me into a residency no matter what the score is. If i am not getting that fail me so that i can try again. I m an Old Img and i have nothing to lose by giving it again. And I failed by one mark.
So i take my consolation that maybe my score would have been very low (below 80) that i failed. Trust in Allah. He has always a better plan for you. Just keep up ur prayers and no matter what dont lose the prayers and things wil work out for you. Insha Allah.
