actually mezo the best order is the right order .....i mean step1 then 2ck then cs and later of course 3 if u can....if u take it that order u will feel u r doin it the right way and each step will help u in the next one.....
u have to focus on each step separately...i mean when u tryin to take step 1 for example dont bother ur mind with other steps or wt is goin on in match for example...
i did the usmle in my emtyaz which was the last year.....
actually when i started usmle (step 1 was my start) i dint know anybody who take it and even i had no ideas about these forums and blogs that may help u (looks like ignorant right? ) but thts the truth even i didnt know that there is wt is called q bank .....but i started my way .....the most important thing is to decide then go....
actually for step 1
I read Kaplan notes once, did the pre test (this series is not good for purpose of just answering MCQs but I did it as a sort of revision after finishing reading the whole Kaplan but if u don’t have time and u r close to the exam don’t do it cuz there r much better sources which is more similar to the exam type of questions) and in few days before the exam I heard about the Kaplan q bank so I got it but hadn’t the time to complete it all and also I browsed some pathology slides on the internet. 1st aid for step 1 is an excellent source and of course I did it durin doin my MCQs. At that time I didn’t hear about USMLEWORLD but of course in later steps I got to know it and I think it’s the best source now for usmle mcqs (I did it my step 2 ck step 2 cs and 3) so in step one I was like lost in mcqs cuz of lack of experience but el 7amdollah I did it with score 94
In step 2 ck (which I started just after step 1 exam and before knowing the result of course)
I did Kaplan notes once, Kaplan q book, kaplan q bank, pretest (for the same purpose written above..),usmleworld q bank (which I think is the best source ever) and usmle secrets for step 2ck.while preparing for step 2 ck I knew for the 1st time that some ppl get 99 in usmle so I told maself I should do it with 99 too!!! I felt that I was prepared in this step cuz I did much MCQS as I can and it worked and I got 99 el 7amdollah…
Before the release of the score report I was flying to usa to do step 2cs which was the toughest exam. Its not tough cuz of amount of study…its touhg cuz of its stressful nature …actually it took me less than 4 weeks for preparation and I found study partner to practice cases with which was the most important thing (actual practice with timing and writin patient notes and doing physical exam and everything) and I used usmleworld materials and used fixed protocol durin my patients encounters that u can find on site of tips and tricks for usmle step 2cs by digital doctor…..its free site with good mnemonics and materials…and returned back on same day of release of score report and I found it ”pass” once I arrived …what a relief lol
Before leavin usa of course I applied for the match….and after I arrived here I started thinkin about taking step 3…but actually (maknsh fya nafas lool) but I decided to take it to finish these nasty exams and cuz I was returning to the states anyway to do my IVs I told maself I should take it this time….
I was short of time and actually I didn’t study for it at all!!! I just did usmleworld qbank (which is just 28 blocks) and the ccs in about 4 weeks or smthin ….my exam was on 26 and 27 of Dec…and I travelled around Christmas (which is a thin that I don’t recommend after wt happened with me!) I was supposed to arrive there before the exam by 2 days but I spent these 2 days in the way to the states!!!! Cuz flights were in a mess with many cancellations and delays (the journey to usa itself needed to be discussed alone cuz fe3lan etrabet loool) finally I arrived 11 pm and my step 3 exam was next morning 8 am (u can imagine how I was looking like after spending 3 days in the way loool) but el 7amdollah despite the shity trip and the fact that I didn’t study for it I passed with 85 (which is descent score for step 3)…actually I wanted just to pass so I can apply for H1b visa and of course to say bye bye usmle lool . Also I did my interviews and then returned back again ……………sorry 3la el ra3’I but I hope I could help
