u won't find any of step1 qs in any q-bank u gonna solve, i just faced them in the exam. and it was shocking to me, i got a nephron with arrows & nos. out of it and asking about electrolyte movements, a cardiac cycle graph and 2 antiarrhythmics effect on it and saying if drug a is ... what is drug b ??? also, got a ribosome and the q was asking where the translation starts???
So, use FA step1 to review the topics i mentioned to nany ...
BTY, when do u plan to do ur test??? did u booked yet??

- ask the woman if she wishes to have her husband present during the examination

- tell the husband the best information comes directly from the patient, and question the woman directly about her symptoms
The reason y i brought this up is that i always find difficulty solving these kinds of qs, when they ask how to act or say, coz u become confused between ur personality, ur beliefs , and that u wanna rise up to the professional level they wanna u act with, and there is no clear principle that u might build ur choice upon .... so, we might reach for it together ...

well guys the correct answer is 2. ask him to wait outside while the physician examines the woman in private.....y?? ...... because .......
u've to remeber that the woman is the patient..the physician needs to make contact with her & create a forum in which she can communicate without any interference from her husband... the best way to do this is to ask to speak to the patient in private .....
Note that, either the woman or her husband may object to this request ....
---> if the husband objects ---> offer to have a female staff member present while he is out of the room
---> if the wife objects ( & she has the right to do so ) -----> then ask what would make her most comfortable ....
The Key here is that not to get caught up assuming that because of the couples religion & culture, they necessarily have certain beliefs or desires. Membership in a group doesn't mean that one shares all the beliefs of that group. To assume other wise is mere prejudice.

Hi mgame, welcome to the group, menwarna ....
Best is Kaplan notes 2007 in all subjects, u'll find them in the bookstore that u used to get ur medical books from, if not they r present in Bookstores of El Kasr El Ainy and Ain Shams, get them with the Kaplan Q-book , they should cost about 150 LE ....
Also, u should listen to the videos of Kaplan center preparation course, they r sold in the same Bookstores , but u should wait for a while as 2007 version is sold now on the net and it should be available in Egypt in a couple of months....
for qs u should use Kaplan Q-book as i said above + Kaplan Q-bank, also available in the same bookstores, but take care not to confuse it with the Kaplan IV Q-bank ( IV = Integrated Vingette ) u don't need that one .... and USMLE World Q-bank u'll purchase this one online from www.usmleworld.com and the usmle sample cd, u get it when u apply for the test and u can download it from their site , and finally the NBME which r 4 forms where u can assess ur perforamnce by them from www.nbme.org

ahh i forgot ......i'm reading in kaplan notes 2004 edition which i got from the internet.. are they that different from 2007 edition?
& if anyone saw 2007 edition online plzzzzzzzzz tell me where

to get a residency, u have to be ECFMG certified, if u passed step 1 , 2ck & 2cs, u get temporarily certification from ECFMG by which u can get a residency on J1 visa, but u still have to take step3 within 7 yrs i think, to be permenantely certified by ECFMG, so u can do it during ur residency, but if u got it b4 ur residency application u can get ur residency on H1b visa ... to know more read the bulletin and booklet as i suggested earlier .....
2007 edition is updated and some books r changed, as far as i can recall Biochemistry is changed and i think pharma too, Anatomy is still the same, patholgy updated, that's what i can remember,.... u should get 2007 notes, from ur bookstore is preferable than internet ...
if u r asking for the videos from the internet ...it is quite expensive but check these 2 sites ...
www.usmlepro.com & www.usmlestep.com a friend of mine tried both and told me that they r trusted but still caution is required anyway ...

h1b visa is needed for those aiming to staying at usa after residency
if u started ur residency on j1 visa u will be subjected to obligatory 2 years return to ur home country or u can waive these two years by working in a rural area for three years to change ur j1 to h1 b which after 3 yrs can be changed to green card
also a good score on step 3 makes ur credentials look better
