Faddy, unfortunately I don't know any internet sites that offer pediatric X-rays however they sell an X-ray book at Uni for 10-15 le. I believe the author is a Dr.Maged or Dr.Magdy, check and see cuz the book is worth buying. They usually have a session or 2 at the end of the round to summarize the X-rays and if you take private lessons your tutor will probably arrange for something of the sort as well.

I'd list the X-rays you're most likely to encounter but they won't do you any good cuz you have to see them to know them. I'd focus on learning how to comment on X-rays if I were you, that's very important for each and every round.

The most important single item you must know is how to differentiate between active, healing and healed rickets on an X-ray smiling face

Thanks for ur wishes Faddy & nany, i'm hoping that u r right, coz besara7a ana GATLY 3O2DA MEN ELBALAD DEH WE MESH MESTA7MEL AY 7AGA TANYA TE7SALLY ....

Look ya 3am Fady, it seems that u didn't read my post carefuly, i said that my friend is a son of a professor in the School so he got this letter so easily, KOOSA BENDS THE RULES SO EASILY and Also he was kinda lucky bec. by the time he was asking for that, we had a very nice understandable dean who wants to help everyone to go abroad but she just wants to be sure that u r doing this for actual learning and she helps u, now she is the vice president of the university... and actually, during Emtiaz they can grant u a letter of a last year medical student " in English" not in arabic, at least at my School " Mansoura Faculty of Medicine" BTY....

I checked page 4 & it seems that u r mixing things up, Electives r for students and Externships r for graduates and both r the only way of getting a hand on experience which is the most important .... as so many programs ask for USCE for at least 3 months and the ones that don't ask say that we prefer USCE...

Observerships r not worth it actually, as when u r an observer no one looks at u and no one talks to u , u r treated like an object and ur LOR if u got any won't be of any importance as they will write what actually happened, they will say that u were an obsever and may just comment on ur personality if they had any conatct with u Aslan, i.e. most probably u'll get a letter saying that u were an observer in this place from ... to ..... and there is no remarks about u....

Also, yes many hospitals will answer u "we don't accept IMGs" others will just ignore, that's y i said to u when u go there to Do ur CS, just contact them in person, most of these that answered back will accept u when u go in person, they refuse coz they don't wanna bother themselves by issues of visas and all the qs of IMGs ask about which just give them headaches and the ones who answer r the secretary of the program director, which don't wanna load herself with extra-work but when u go in person u'll meet with the program director, if he liked u he will accept u and tell u what to do ....

The friend that i told u about, i mailed the hospital he got elective in and they answered we don't accept students from egypt, after that by a month he got an elective in their hospital, coz he was already there....

U might like to check this site www.usmletomd.com it's a blog by digitaldoc, he posts everything regarding this as the name indicates from usmle to md , u'll find a lot about electives, observers, externships ...even examples of how to send them letters asking....

Also, check http://www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/2997.htm...
there u can find a list of all programs and there contact ... u know u can use Skype buy credit on it using credit card for only 10$ u get to talk to usa for about 7 hours , u can call the program directors directly and skip the secretary, and e-mailing and stuff, i didn't do that b4 but it worth trying ...

For icehell, no i spent just 1 yr 1mo and 19 days, the thing is i was temporarily exempted coz my father has passed away and i'm the oldest son but when my brother strated emtiaz they had a new change of laws .. they changed the character of emtiaz Dr. from student to graduate and since he is a graduate and has an exemption till the end of emtiaz , my exemption expired and i had to join the army... how lucky i'm mad??????!!!!!!!

Regarding the Verification of ECFMG, they ask for ELSHAHAD ELCARTOON , they don't accept any other form of certificates, ELMO2AKATA deh wala leeha ay ma3na 3andahom, a friend of mine kept sending it to them 3 times and everytime they send it back to him asking for eldiploma... after u send the cartoon copy and translation to them they send it back to ur school with a form to fill in, sign and stamp by ur dean and send it back to them, my school used to issue shahada mo2akata to them so they had to refuse it, u had to follow with ur school, when they get this form, just explain to them what ECFMG wants them to do, i did that went to she2oon el7'eregeen, i found a form like that at them but for a different student, i told them what to do with this and with every form they get like this thereafter, so no one ever complained since then....

hope that helped answereing all ur qs... GL

Mildanemia, I bought the book of Maged Ashraf. Thanks for your help bro!

Mezo, there we gogrin. man Externships/Electives which mean the same thing, are offered for Students. Electives are the same as Rotations. You cannot do anything except observerships after you graduate from medical school.
Please check out this great thread, I was asking about that:

Do you mean el shahada el cartoon that is released 50 years after graduation? grin I thought there's a temporary diploma mesh maktoob feha not authorized to parctice medicine, and this one is working.
I've asked ECFMG and they told me they need the certificate that gives you the Mb ChB diploma. They have no idea what the temporary certificate is!

Yabny Esma3 Illy ba2olak 3alaih, i've friends who did that, i tried to search for the differences between observer/extern/electives over usmletomd but it seems that he delelted it , u could log on his blog and ask him for it here ... http://www.usmletomd.com/usce/2007/05/does-observ...

The son of the professsor that i'm telling u about, did electives, once u graduated u can't do electives as they offer it only to last yr medical students as i said earlier.... Externships r the equivelant for graduates .. i've a friend who did one through FMG Portal , it was in the Dr's private office, he went to the hospital with him, and he gave him an outstanding LOR, i hear from others that some hospitals is offering Externships but u need to know anyone inside the hopsital to get it, better to be in a hospital than in private office ... The idea is not just to get a US-LOR but to fulfil the USCE on ur CV....

ElShehada Elcartoon u get at the end of emtiaz with a couple of other shahadat Mo2akata and shahadet elemtiaz except in Alex university sad where they give u Elcartoon 3 yrs after graduation which is a very weired and silly thing, elcartoon is not for Wall hanging, u work by it in 7'aleeg and u apply with it for USMLE and other exams. like it .... For Alex graduates, really i don't know what they can do, they can ask Amideast , or make a Complaint for the faculty Dean or university president or something even if they gonna make some exceptions for those doing USMLE ... u can do all ur tests without sending this Certificate but u won't get ECFMG certified b4 they verify this Cartoon with ur Med School.

First off, ebnak da fel beit grin so we keep the conversation clean just to look mature right? grin

Anyway, baba mezo grin, I'm not sure if you're aware of the concept of externships in the first place. But given that you are, dad! grin so your friend might be a freaky exception to the rulegrin Did you mean he has done it in a doctor's private office? if yes, so many programs won't count it as USCE because electives have to be done in an ACGME accrredited hospitals.
Please read the link I gave you because these people are US physicians and residents. So their knowledge is DEFINITELY mawsook menha aktar meni we menak.

Thanx , u r welcome, just start applying now, it is easier to get an elective than to get an externship .. elective programs r present in all US hospitals as u apply with the US students, so ur only obstacle is if they accept IMGs or not, while not every hospital has externship program, also u pay for externships starting from 300$/wk , some ask for oever 800$ /wk , but i'm not sure if they ask for fees to grant u an elective or not??? i think they will ask instead to pay for malpractice insurance, but i'm not sure, better check with them .. sorry, i didn't read ur 1st post, i did now, mashy 7'aleena nas Mature ( MATAYEER ) grin

Look i reached to the mid of the 1st page from the link u posted, i didn't reach what u r aiming at, if u can copy and paste what u r pointing that would be gr8 of u , am kinda busy right now ....

My friend was an extern in the DR's private office, his duties was to take Hx & physical from the patients and then the dr. come in and continue and explain to him what is going on , ask him a q, let him see or listen a physical finding, also this dr. was working in a nearby hospital & every now and then he went there and took my friend with him and also did the same, and he used to introduce him to the hospital stuff as his extern , so he communicated with them, saw the patient's files asked for labs, even attended some surgeries, although he was an IM extern, the Dr. used to tell him there is an operation of.... would u like to attend ?? the Dr. wrote on the LOR that he had hand on experience and that he had the opportunity to work in the hospital of ... with me & this Dr. is a remarkable one, he actually invented a Vaccine for Cancer Breast, could u imagine !!!! shocked although not so effective but still he is a well recognized dr. .... in the contrary of Observership programs, where u don't touch, talk or do anything with any patient ... so i think it is Hand on experience and i'll check with him and get back to u.
