@ Ledo

Fe eh ya 3am? grin

Seriously, hadn't I known you were a guy... I'd have thought you were flirting with me grin

Either way kollak zou2... ya ledo beih

@ Faddy

You probably know about this stuff better... but I don't think the rules are as rigid as one might imagine, when I e-mailed them they told me you are eligible, but you need either a US citizenship or a GC.

You make it sound like you won't take emtiaz, which is actually a good idea, total waste of time.

But my point was if you were gonna take emtiaz in here, you might as well take it in the US. A year of training counts for something, at least on a personal level or in a resume, it's hands on experience ain't it?

I wish I'd known about his stuff earlier while I was in school... I gave up on medicine when I was in 3rd year... grin

My dad is a graduate of the MRCP, FRCS school and a big believer in the pioneering of the UK in medicine... he used to console me "Awel ma tekhalas el emtiaz tekhosh fee el zamala 3ala tool"

When I told him about USMLE, ally "Ah, kan esmo ayamna ECFMG... dah emte7an ta3ban, hatetla3 GP bardo" hehe grin

  #2491

Ledo, el application for free.. open from october to december, results go out on July.

ramyazzam wrote:

Whats that?

I'm not familiar with PLAB examinations, or el zamala?? But I do know its a good shortcut if you wanna come back to Egypt.

If I were you, I'd get myself done with Step 1/2 so that you can apply to 2010 Match right away. You'll have to have them by September 2009 or so. Dump the electives thing for now and focus on your steps.

  #2492

The site you're talking about offers the service, but in return for some fees, and since you mentioned that you didn't pay any fees, you didn't apply.

Faddy provided the offical website earlier, all it asks for are some info about yourself (like Faddy said) plus 1 or 2 photos, which I'm pretty sure about...

I guess Mezo can help out in this smiling face

Believe me that kind of e-mail you got is a phishing scam that's been a trend for some years now. They even exposed some nigerian guys who ran those scams on TV, Brian Ross of Abc, if memory serves me right.

@ Faddy

Back in the days, those were the degrees that mattered... you can find more detail on the British Council website...

Also back in the days a bachelor's degree from Egypt, actually meant something. The MBBCh, which is actually Latin (Medicinae Baccalaureus et Baccalaureus Chirurgiae) was well respected everywhere.

My dad has an MRCPCH, kind of equivalent to a fellowship in pediatrics...

I am doing stuff in "parallel"... I am studying for Step 2 CK right now... occasionally check out some USMLE Step 1 stuff, e-mail some program directors, and brain storm with you guys.

I like multi-tasking, never been efficient at it though grin

oooooh la la seniooorygringringrin

If your planning on taking it on March, always pick March-April-May eligibilty period.. And I think as long as you apply 6 months in advance so that would be fine, so yea apply now lih la2?grin 3shan kaman ay 7aga te7sal gher motawake3a as regards verification they do with your school, mail delays.. etc you'll have to mail a certification statement that has your official school seal after you do the online part.

  #2500

I beleive there is no March-April-May eligibilty period right? Pick April-May-June..
