for perioperative DVT prophylaxis UW says LMWH or warfarin can be used. But there is a Q in UW with both among the choices and the right answer is warfarin!! So...

question no?

To be honest, I would not give either but aspirin. I am worried if both LMWH or warfarin could cause intraoperative DIC-like bleeding...

Actually the protocol is to administer LMWH 1-2 h PREoperatively; just enoxparin should be administer after if is a orthopedic surgery.

Between warfarin and LMWH I would chose LMWH.
