Hello, I went through several programs for IM, and all have requirement of first attemp. My score is Step1 83-second attemp, step 2 92-first attemp, cs passed first attemp.
Do you think my step 1 experiance will affect my chances , ?should i apply to the programs were they said first attemp only?
I did two research study in my country and have 5 month of exp in psychotherapy in outpatient clinic here.

befor applying-send emails to the programs you are interested in and ask them if you are going to be considered. and wait for the response.some programs will send you the criteria. some will not answer. and some will tell you the truth. also,try to call this programs. if you select 100 programs in the beginning of the emailing process-by the end of it you will have about 50 wich you should apply to.
but-the email file should include the detailed file about you-scanned dean's letter,score reports,photo,personal statement,application. the ideal version-create a website-someone mentioned that you can do it somewhere on the web for 1 $,and write a cover letter in the email with the link to your website. it should be done in the neat and professional way. that way the PCs will get familiar with you befor you even apply. this should be done early in the august. some PCs will say-apply only through ERAS-these are the ones that don't want IMGs and only want american grads. but some will answer and will answer personally. some programs are very flexible about their scores and requirements-that's why it's very important to have this "preview" step.this way you cut off the programs(or they cut you off actually,lol) and won't waste your money.
this process is very important. my advise-either do it well or don't do it at all,cause poorly done,it can harm your chances.

As a program coordinator, I don't think that I have ever looked at any email attachment or gone to a web site with applicant material. There is no way that I could keep with my responsibilities in the program if I was doing that. Just my 2 cents on the above post.

hi bbb!
believe me or not-but lots of PCs answered to my email,and lots of them-personally. some of them said that they would keep my file, but of course,the process is done through ERAS.
I'm not saying this process WILL help,I'm saying that it MIGHT help. and definately it won't harm.
but at least you may save some money and have a handful of programs that are very likely to consider your application. plus-you get to know fresh criteria that maybe were updated and are not showing on the websites.
