Hello, I have a question.

Suppose I apply to programs that only offer J1 visa and programs that offer J1 and H1b visa and for this reason I have to mark J1 and H1b on the CAF as my expected visas. If I match in a program that offers J1 and H1b, but between those visa I prefer H1b instead of J1, how will the program know which one I really want? Do they ask you or you have to tell them in advance?

Thanks

They ask and you tell them if you have a choice.

Thanks bbb, do you mean during the interview or when you have matched?

at interview you may be asked by PC or the PD. If not, I would have thought you should try to convey your preference, unless you love the program and it does not make a difference to you which visa you get.
