Hi there seniors ,
Did anyone apply to BWH last few years? Do they even look at IMGs without US LORS and /or US clinical experience: I had a look at their website and it is a bit cryptic:
" Historically, successful applicants have USMLE (steps 1 & 2) scores above 90 and prior clinical training in the US or Canada. On average, IMGs with extraordinary qualifications, make up 1-3 interns per year. If accepted, BWH will sponsor either H-1 or J-1 visa."
Did anyone from the forum get an interview call there??Or know soemone who did?If yes could you post their credentials to so that my megalomania can be curbed ?
PS:
I know what most of you are thinking but I cant help dreaming- esp when I am in my manic phases

Hello, BWH admitted 18 Harvard graduates this year, the most any year and most among any Boston hospital, so you can imagine that as the preferred hospital for HMS graduates for IM, competition is very stiff. I did interview at BWH this past season and had very encouraging feedback from them, bus somehow fell short of matching there. I met IMGs that are training at BWH, very few, but there are IMGs doing residency there.

It is an awesome place to train and if you think you have a chance, go for it. Scores are very little important there, research, community projects, and doing a rotation there are much more important, and probably essentials.

wish you the best,

ngt.

WOW!!Thanks a lot NGT;I will do my best to get an admission- if not as a doctor at least as a patient!
I was curious about their Global health Equity program:

But to apply you need to get a PGY1 in BGH- and since I am currently not even in the US (stuck with my PhD in Europe!) its very unlikely that I will be able get any USCE - still might be tempted to apply - lets see; still have to complete my Step2
It was great to find out that someone from the forum actually got a Interview call and a positive response from Harvard!!Cool!

My wife, an old grad IMG, got accepted to BWH to do a fellowship with high USMLE scores, in parallel to her overseas specialization. Although she had gotten relatively high scores, we think it was the timing mattered, not her scored for her acceptance.

Congratulations to your wife! And thanks a lot for the info- What exactly do you mean by timing? the fact that she applied after her specialization?Or applied early ?

I know that scores dont matter, but yes they so have a cut-off, so ngt and eturan, what sort of scores are we still talking about? Will a score above 90 with a decent CV land you an interview?

I believe so, as long as you can find a program desparately looking to fill a spot before "their" dealine is over (The time in which they need to make a decision and still have the canditate go thru the state madical board lisensure application and receive one before the program starts).
