strange i thought it is sure for h.influenza and only had dout about its coverage for moraxella !!!! and if not cover these two how can we depend on it as empiric treatment for out patient with pneumonia?! it is well known that s.pneumonia and moraxella, h.influ most common

Most common causes of atypical pneumonia:Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Chlamydophila pneumoniae. Macrolides cover all of them, plus the typical pneumonia bugs.
They do cover Moraxella.
They do NOT cover Haemophilus.

I should add: when treating COPD patients with sputum purulent, we need to cover Pneumococcus, Haemophilus and Moraxella.
