I had my visa interview this morning... and my visa was accepted.

The consular official asked my about my relatives in the US, asked me to show my ECFMG certificate, and if I ever worked in the states before... after that she said that my visa will be issued today for me to get to orientation on time...

HI,
congs upon having successfully gone through the struggle. Needed to ask u one QN abou the H1 interview: I have been in US briefly for Clinical skills & then for STEP 3 under the tourist visa B1. On my interviews for the B1 visa I declared I was going for leisure, do you think in case I am to interview for an H1 visa, I would be penalised for not having declared that I was going for an exam too?? Thanks alot

I have misplaced one of my usmle(step 2 cs) score reports....so how do I get another one?as I will need to take them. thank you.

Hi All

I got my prematch and would like to know a) when does usually hospital start the H1 procedure? I understand it takes around 45 days from the day of submital of H1 documents? Correct me if i am wrong.

Also now i am in H4 visa. b)Is it a must i have to go back to my home country to stamp H1 before starting residency? Though i have H4 validity till 2009.

c) Can i have residency start with a I 797 approval but H4 in passport?

What is the latest date you can take step 3 and still get a H1B visa?

I took CS in Nov - results in Jan-Feb - apply for step3 after - get paperwork done and state licence.

How long does this whole process take? Or, will I be left with a J1.

Hi all,
success 2 those still in the struggle. I got a pre-match and signed the letter of intent which says "I DR xxxxx OFFICIALLY OFFER YOU pgy 1 POST IN OUR PROGRAM 2 BEGIN JULY.......HIS SIGNATURE. i FILLED IN MY PART AND SIGNED THE SAME PAPER and sent it 2 them. I have been advised by them 2 begin paper work for H1B visa and have also applied for the states limited license. Is this enough for me 2 w-draw from match? shld I 1st ask for the FORMAL RESIDENCY CONTRACT LETTER??
Please Heeeee...lp. am mixed up.

Hi,
I got a prematch. H1B petition was filed on Feb 14. Got my I-797 approval notice by the end of March. No premium processing was required.

hi, i am from pakistan, and been offered H1, i am expecting my H1 approval to be arriving sometime around the 3rd week of may, how long does the embassy take to give back the passport once the visa is approved from the consulate in islamabad....any experiences?

Hi

i have one question. I am in US on visitor's visa and got an offer for Surgery prelim. I want to know what are my options now? I want to join on time. So should i go for j1 or h1b? i am willing to shell out extra bucks for quick processing. Can I go to Canada and get the VISA stamped? Or i shud go back to India?

speak to your attorney, you can apply for a visa status change from B!/B2 to H1B without having to leave for India. I have done that so can vouch for it.

You visa stamping is dependant on your interview. Some people in Islamabad rcv their passport in time (i.e 1-2 weeks). The officer will tell you the approximate timeline after he has approved ur visa. Some people need FBI clearance and that can take time and the officer willl tell you that he cannot predict how long clearance will take. Good Lcuk.
