Hi,
I read the Step 1 thread and noticed the details in the preparation of most of you. I'm trying to find out what most people consider is also necessary to obtain a 95+ score, besides studying and practicing questions. What do you consider will be the best answer?
1. A peaceful environment
2. Enrollment in a private course
3. A study partner
4. Participation in a forum
5. Determination and sacrifice
6. Other:________________

well....on my behalf...I had that peaceful environment...I took the Kaplan live lectures...Im addicted to this forum...and I did have partners to study...but I never had that "determination and sacrifice" since 20 days ago !! now I have it and for the first time since I started this stuff and I started to feel self confident about passing...so for me...that was the key...but among the others...I guess one should be on the table with all the soul and brain to concentrate so peace in life is very important... I dont wanna say nothing on stuff like wut to study...how to study bla bla bla bc its why this forum is here already ...
to believe that one can do it and then do his/her real best without thinking nothing on unnecessary details but just STUDY ! thats the thing to bring 90+ I believe...

3. for those who are lazy and need constant motivation.
5. is the definite answer which if followed will never let u down.
If u visit forums too often, u waste ur time. And get tensed after reading some tensing exam experiences.

The most important factor is determination. Peaceful invironment is not so imporatant, a determined person will provide the peaceful invironment for himself ( expect in life crises which maintaining peace is impossible).
enrollment in a study course will benefit for average persons like me, but for getting a 90+ I think this is a waste of time.
A study partner can help provided that it will be in a short, limited time.
Participation in forum can help provided that no spend too much time on it ( agree with girl^interrupted).
wish all u the best results of ur study.( I feel really tired now)

i agree with Hedieh, i don't think it's right to make up a recipe to get 95+, because we have developed different methods of reading, memorizing, concentrating and learning in general throughout med school years, so to say "if you don't sti for 10 hours straight, you won't get good result" or "you must sit in quiet room" or aomething else is not entirely right
some can pass within 5 months, some need a year
some need impecable order, some feels home when chaos around
some need silence and some can't start reading unless there is music on
but all people do share one thing: A WILL, which gives you determination and perseverance
if you have a goal and keep it infront of you all the time, you'll be there sooner or later, one way or another.

i haven't given my exam yet, but for me determination and sacrifice is the main thing. if you want something bad enough, you'll get it. don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

i am yet to take my exam ... but i have been studying for 3months, and i took the lectures, for me i think its my goal that keeps me going, i know where i came from and i know that passing and not just passing but passing with a good score is goin to get me to where i want and make my life and that of my family a lot better ...in essence u have to know why u want this, and u have to want it bad enuf to give up a lot and sit ur a-- down and study!.
