I see a bunch of posters here wanting to know which is the best, most reliable Externship Placement Service but very few respondents with ambiguous answers. So who can recommend any of these companies. I've spoken to representatives of three and even had a few past students email me about their experiences.. but still not convinced.. I am an IMG and not a student.
here goes
GMC, Americlerkships and FMG portal. It seems that Americlerkships are the most professional. Out of the three they are the only one's that had doctors conducting their phone inquiries. The other two were sales agents.
Just seems like a lot of money and no real resource available to verify if these companies are the "real deal". Furthermore, they have very strict cancellation policies and some only take paypal.
Anyone else looking for USCE experience to beef his/her CV for the upcoming match. Grad year was 2004 and had 6 months of USCE with US LOR's unfortunately, these rotations are too dated, hence my search. Let me know your thoughts and leads.

Americlerkships charges 499/wk. with a one month minimum. the cheapest so far is FMG portal but very limited speciality availability.

There are 2 users here who went through FMG portal (I think.. or may be called FMG something else..) and said they had to pay a few thousands per month and did externship in private practices. If they want to say this themselves, they'll post their own experiences. They adviced me against it and said they just take your money, but they did provide them with the externships. One of them asked the doctor after they became friends if he gets any money from this and the doctor denied, so he refused to pay the company after one or 2 months. The doctor accepted to keep him up to 6 months. So check their policies, çause maybe you can abandon them after a while.
