Hello, I just realized that I cant start my residency without having my SSN ( and sure I wont get my salary without having SSN as well). I called SSN office and found out that processing time will be at least 6 weeks. The question is, how early I can arrive to US with H1B visa? 1 month before my residency starts? Earlier? And is there anything that could be done to solve this problem? thanks

my GUESS is that once you have acquired the visa, you can enter anytime. Clearly you got the visa after getting residency position. it is not a big issue.

Contact your program coordinator. If the program sponsors H1 visas, then you can't be the first resident that this has happened to.
