How about starting a new thread for all OLD IMGs who are starting to study for the USMLE?
For me, here is my information.
Graduation Year: 1992
Exam date: December 2007
Topics having difficulty with: Genetics and mollecular biology--embryology--

That's a good idea. This way we all can get moral support from each other. I am a graduate of 1990 . Not sure when will I take my test. I had a great difficulty with mol.bio. in my 1st read. I will see how is it now when I start my 2nd read. Pharma was my weakest subject at med.school and it still is.
I have been reading success stories of many old grads on this forum. I hope we will be among those successful people one day. Good luck to all.

ok...we seem to be 11 ppl here for now...so am I the one to take the test earliest ??
and somethings really bothering me...is this being old grad be an disadvantage during the matches ??? I know thats the last thing I gotta be thinking at this moment but just to share your ideas....
acid,my bro...theccalculi of genetics...its only a few pages of population genetics....it shouldnt be a big deal after sparing some focused time on it...or is it more but I dont know about it 
so...this topic was not to say : heyy ppl ..Im old tooo ..and bysss was it show up...share where you are in your prep and make me believe we will do it !!

Okay, what will we do now if we know each other as old IMG? Will you guy keep your "gold" or "Old" unused?
We can have a threat to discuss what we are studying so far and our experience

Greatest difficulty with step 1: knowing that knowing the third aminoacid in the Krebs cycle makes no difference when you are in front of the patient telling him what to do next.
Greatest difficulty with step 2: seeing how studying so hard cardiology (arrhythmias and pacemaker) took me away from so many other intersting subjects, making me know about maybe the first drug of choice, never the second or third (specially antibiotics). Greatest pleasure: having to learn all over again, knowing how important everything is for my immediate future.

Hi,
I want to join to my Old IMG coleagues.
Graduation:July 98
Cs passed in august 2006
STEP 2 passed in march 2007.Score 86
I am planning to take step 1 in late july 2007.Did not registered yet.
Long and hard journey until arrive here.I failed step 1 in 2004 ,score 74.
I failed step 2 in 2005 .Score 74.
I never give up a dream.I am tired and hurt,but still stood up.
God,our Good Lord,Bless all of us.

ok old docs ! here I am...last 50 days to the exam and Im just sitting here on my table...lookin desperately to my schedule...tryin to understand if its realistic or not...I dont wanna reschedule my date bc Im missing my 4 yr old very terribly I know understand that it was the greatest luxury I ever had to spend hours with him ...but I must handle this feeling for 50 more days !!
so far I read path micro pharm and biochem ( genetics not yet )
my Q bank expires in 17 days so I gotta finish beh sci + anatomy + physio with the remaining 2/3 Q bank...
the next 15 days Ill buy UW and add FA to it...
last 10 days will be my final revision...
sometimes I feel Im done...sometimes I feel soo bad
2 days Ill be reading genetics...then 3 days for beh sci...then comes my nightmare physio...
any advise will be appreciated...

Hello OLD IMGs, I would like to join the group.
Graduation1991, finally descide to go back being a doctor in USA. I hope that we can get more and more motivation and being encouraged with each other here.
I am thanking NYC_IMG for this topic which will cheer us up and warm us up during the tough time of studying. Otherwise, I am worried of being made fun by young graduates.

Hang in there..you are very close to get in the 99 club.
Beleive in yourself and beleive in God (Allah) and always know deep inside you that your hard work will not go away (that makes sense anyway..... right?)
You are already sacrifying and working hard and eating, drinking, breathing and sleeping USMLE. Do you think that will not be enough to do great on the test?...I don't think so..
You will tell us good news in a few weeks.
