Hi there: I have 2 questions regarding LOR: 1. I have worked in 2003 with a Physician, and I want him to write an LOR for me, what date should he write on the top of letter? (I understand that he would show the exact dates when I worked with him) but what should be the letter issue date? 2. Can I send a Family Physician's LOR to a Psychiatrc residency program and vice versa if I don't have 3 LOR in total? Thanks!

This year,s issue date he should put on it. Most programs will ask for letters issued within one year.

You can submit family physician LOR to psychiatry and vise versa, I think if the letter is not to specific towards one branch then it should be ok.

No I didn't get selected but wasted alot of time in the process. I should have concentrated on usmle earlier.

Hi, Yes I am trying to prepare for usmle step 1 but I am finding it very difficult, actually more than I expected. Well no other option is left so got to try it. As far as residency is concerned, I will consider myself very lucky even if I get family medicine in canada but given an opportunity I would like to go for Internal medicine or may be OBGY. Depends alot on Usmle scores and other factor which are not in my favor at this point. How about yourself? What are you intersted In?

Thank you CS, I have a some questions regarding the topics in general. Which subjects are more important apart from physio and patho? I know that Phsio and Patho is must, but how important are biochemistry, histology, embrio, and genetics? Hi Maou, My scores are not very high but they are 500 plus in both MCCEE and MCCQE 1. I don't want to discourage anyone but if you want to save your time and money then aim for USMLE. Otherwise with time you will find out on your own. I really don't know why people overrate Canada. In my opinion USA is very good and moreover they so many position to offer. Good luck to all.

Well Jase, I am really sorry for late reply..... Yes, u r right, patho and physio are must. Other than that,,Neuroanatomy, histopathology, and ethics/behavioral science were the most covered subjects in my and my friends's step I. Believe me 40% of my exam was from ethics/BS.....other topics were from neuroanatomy (especially images) and histopathology... If u want to ask anything else, ur most welcome! can u please tell me what was ur expereicne for canadian match, I know it was not a good one but can u share???????? Thanks......
