You have to do prelim in internal medicine for one year and then go on for neurology.
Some Neurology programs offer you this year and introduce you to IM Dept, you do it for one year and then continue you residency in Neuro. It is called Categorical Prog.

Some others, as know Advanced, don't offer you PGY1=Post Graduate Training Year 1, and you have to find another program to do your prelim to be entitle for doing Neuro residency later on.

So, for neurology residency, you have to apply for Neurology (Adv or Cat) and IM as preliminary and some IM as Back up.

Good Luck

P.S. Read Neuro thread on the forum.
