I am an IMG, recently graduated and now after dropping my plan of starting a house job, I have started my Usmle step 1 prep.

I hope to go through the entire syllabus once between 25th apr-25 may.

I am so lazy, I am not able to achieve my daily target. So from tomorrow I am thinking of going to the library daily and study for atleast 8-10 hours.

May 2nd- Histology Done.
Books I used
1. Kaplan Notes, I did watch some lectures but i didn't like the histology teacher. He was basically reading the notes unlike physio or beh sciences teachers who really explain the notes well.
2. BRS Cell biology & histology, some topics which i didnt understand from kaplan, i consulted Brs for them. Really good book.
3.Bloom & Fawcett Histology, some topics really explained well. Very good Histology slides.

Well I dont have the BRS Cd so cant say much about it. But I really love BRS Histology book, very well written and easy to understand plus good questions at the end of the chapter. I didnt study the entire brs book but hopefully will read it if my time table allows.

May 3rd-- Early Embryology Done.
Although it was a very short topic but took me quite some time, i wanted to revise some histo topics today but anyways will do that some other time.
Books I used
1. Kaplan Notes, It has 4 tiny chapters on early embryology
2. BRS Embryo, Really good stuff. Read the first 4 chapters (till 8th week) about 40 pages.
3. HY Embryo, havent read it, but still got 2-3 hours for today so might go over the high yield stuff.

Today it wasnt a very good day, had a terrible toothache. So I was not able to concentrate. Must visit a dentist soon.
Anyway
Today i only used BRS and read Cell Physiology & Neurophysiology chapters. Now i will go through these chapters from kaplan as well and if time allows will try to watch some lectures.

I am in trouble again, physio is too lengthy especially with lectures. I took 1 extra day but still wasnt able to finish physio. During these days i also got 1 tooth extracted and alot of my time was wasted.
Anyway about physio, i will finish the stuff left but now i am going to start gross anatomy from tomorrow. Inshallah will finish i 2 days.
Today i got some new books, i dont know when i will use them but the books are
1. kaplan medessentials
2. first aid step 1 cases
3. step up
4. HY neuro
5. BRS physio cases & problems

Hi,
Isn't it kap physio enough ? It's already big book & long dvd lectures.
Also re ; collecting the books, we usually ends up not read them . But if you've collect it all without time consuming much & not spending any cents at all , then , why not 
Your study plan books lists at 1st posts , very similar to mine, & I also already collect alot of books from book store in few yrs ago since so some already old & still collecting some new , then now sometimes on line [ usually old one] too .
But study more than one books , slow me , make my study less focus , so now I am sticking to kap mainly with less reference , but only few if needed.

Thanks ShweHope99.9998, i agree studying extra books is really disturbing my study plan. The reason for not finishing physio on time was starting with BRS, which took alot of my time. But now i have learnt from my physio experience and will be careful in the future.
May 10th
I started Gross Anatomy
Read Vertebral column and thorax and still reading abdomen.
Books used mainly kaplan, but since i am in a habit of using extra books, i read some stuff from HY also. HY is really good.

Hi Uj,
No fix rules re extra books, just be cautious or will be postpone delay alot .
In anatomy kap, all HY or BRs , any you have are like a must to add. But not the whole book , just some particular chp or topics.

I have finished gross anatomy from kaplan and read a few chapters from HY as well. You are right, HY is essential for anatomy.
I have started Neuroanatomy from today.

HY neuroanatomy
I have started reading First Aid Step 1 and First Aid cases, whenever I am not able to concentrate, I pick either of these books and try to learn something new.

hi i've just started a journal as well.. i plan on taking the exam by sept/oct but i've just started my prep. went over physio and some patho a while ago but doubt i remember much. i'm doing HY Anatomy right now.. would be good to check on each other. any advice for anatomy? nt doing videos!!

Hi, Actually I have stopped maintaining my journal, I have finished my biochem recently.
nochoice, HY anatomy is really good but i think you must go over entire kaplan anatomy book. I didnt watch the videos because I thought studying along with videos require alot of time.
