If I have a Fatty acid that has 16 carbons.....how many ATP'?
suppose no double bonds

  #2

Palmitic acid: 8.1 ATP per each carbon so if 16 carbons= 129.6 ATP :?:

  #3

Correct

7 NADH=21 ATP
7 FADH2=14 ATP
8 ACOA=96 ATP
-2 GTP=-2ATP
TOTAL=129 grin

IF THE F.A HAS 2 DOUBLE BONDS?

  #4

  #5

if start with CoA--Fatty acid, 131ATP

  #6

if unsaturated ( double bond)..it should have less energy than saturated FA.. so , it should be less than 129.6

  #7

Hi, I was gonna post almost the same question and I don't remember the steps you follow to come to calculate ATPs from FA. Someone can explain so that if I see it on my exam, I can get a question right?

thnx a lot!
