CORRECT grin

hey i was just guessing so u can explain how that is the right answer, thanks

  #5

One acetoacetate produces 2 acetyl CoAs, each of which can generate about 12 ATPs, or a total about 24 ATPs via the TCA. However, activation of acetate results in the generation of one less ATP because GTP, the equivalent of ATP, is not produced when succinyl CoA is used to activate acetoacetate (In the TCA cycle, when succinyl CoA forms succinate, GTP is generated.) Therefore, the oxidation of acetate produces a net yield of only 23 ATPs.

can u explain in similar way how many from beta hydroxy butyric acid and acetone??

  #8

B-hydroxybutiric acid have 26, because it come from acetoacetate after 1 dehydrogenation (NADH).

  #9

body can't use acetone as fuel
