Hi! I'm done with step1 2 and cs.Have some difficulties with papers from my univer, dont know what exactly i need, and donr really want to go there..I graduated 2002, i hope they will remember me. You know how it is..

will apply in Phila and Nj, but really looking for Phila. IM or Peds, bcs wanna do fellowship.what about you/ I have 5 months of working in outpatient psychiatric clinic as psychotherapist.Ihope this will do..

Hmmm.. I dontreally think so, but my point is :atleast i did something instead of doing nothing.what you think?
I made my resume yesterday, starting tuesday will go from hosp to hosp and from univer to other and ask for any possible observ, research, etc.Here is kind of diff to get, in Philly i mean, bcs alot of meds school around/where are you live?

i am in Brooklyn, NY
and it is more difficult to get into o-ship/e-ship, unless u have connections...
as for Psych...i think it is definitely huge benefit for you comparing with doing nothing and also there is another aspect to it - you will be familiar with dealing with patients who do need help of psych and who dont and will be able to recognize it and i think t is very important

HI Dn25. I am from Almaty, KZ.
As far as the papers go in the University - You send the copy of your diploma and ceritficates, transcripts translated by the certified translation agancies (do not do notary in the CIS - i guess this is the advice for others who will be reading this post) ECFMG contacts you school in order to verify whether you have graduated there. When i was checking with mine, the answer I've gotten was reassuring. The Universities do know what to do (hopefully you are not the only one who is going through the same torture from the same school). I am shooting for MAtch 2008 too in FM. But i am in KZ. What is your immigration status? Do u have GC? I am afraid that the visas issue will be more strict and problematic within the coming year.

Hello! I have a green card, and plan to apply to IM.Did you get a visa for cs? if yes ,i dont think it would be a proble, but i agree, more difficult, more issues to take care..

Hi peraspera, by this time you have alreay taken your CS.. how was it. hope you have enjoyed it as much as i did.
Dn. Have you recieved your ECFMG certification? Can you tell me whether i have to apply for it when i have all my results and Diploma stuff.. or should i sit tight and wait for ECFMG to send it to me?
Am going to apply to Famly practice and PEdiatrics... with my scores those will be the only options..

hi guys! In may case, i had all results and they evaluate my diploma long ago, when i just started step 1, so after i receved my cs results, i got a letter, that i met all criteria and my sertificate will be sent soon. It took 10 days for them to send, but I'm in phila, so i would say 14 days.
Why you are so pessimistic? what is your score ?Beleive me, its better to fight fo what you love then to be sorry the rest of your life. Do you like FP and Ped? if yes-thats great, good luck!, but if so so try it what you like!
In my case: I passed step 1 204/83 with second attempt(didnt know english when took first time), them step 2 222/92, and cs. Most of the IM programs require first attemp and score more than 85. But this is the only thing that i want to do, so I will apply to IM.If you wont knock - nobody will hear you staying at the door.

Thanks for your responce.
My step 1/2 are 78/83. Just got that passed CS. How long did u wait for the letter about certification. I am also working as a Health Care provider in the US embassy here in KZ. Asa I get my certification, need to rewrite the position description, so it sounds better in the application. Do you think my scores would be ok to get into FM or Peds?

Hi e_m!What specialty you will apply/ any local hospitals?I am waiting for the papers from Ukraine. My cousin , who graduated this year from the same school went to the deans office and asked.They wasnt sure what to write, but he said something coming.Wow, will see/ You know how hard is to get anything in Ukraine(you might not know.. .)What you are doing now? any plans to study step 3 or you already passed?any experiance?

Do you have any LOR?strong ones?LOR play an important role in getting the residency as i know(i dont have any yet...)also your experiance,I think everything will work out.try to get strong LOR.keep in touch and good luck!
