Having a positive PPD is no reason to not accept you for work. If it turns out positive, you have the right to work, but will need follow up and take according measures. Well, at least this is what I learned from studying for Step 3.

you need another chest x-ray, after the chest x-ray is read, if the doctor is not fully satisfied, he will start you on prophylaxis for 6 to 8 months... otherwise unless proven active or infectious, it should not affect your employment... please do not accept another ppd from this time on, because they will always be positive!!!

not always, i was immunized also, but i didn't have positive PPD before so, before you actually get positive test, dot's stress and once you da, you'll probably have CXR and once it's normal you should be OK

agree with the posters above. went through a similar situation myself not long ago and I've been working in a hospital for years now. If they want to start you on prophylaxis, ask to have a CXR done. Based on the results of the CXR, they can decide whether to start you on prophylaxis or not. Either way, don't worry, that is no reason for you to not be able to start your rseidency.
